I bought two pressure cooker cookbooks once I got over my fear of my pressure cooker. This one, and Miss Vicki's Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipes. I am a novice, but have used my pressure daily for 3 weeks to make delicious dinners for my family. The recipes in this book are easy to follow, accurate (more later on this), and always delicious. I already have 'Old Favorites' in this fairly new cookbook. I love that this book has both a Coc Au Vin and Beef Bourguignonne recipes for my pressure cooker. These are both dishes that I have meticulously slaved over all day to make from my Julia Child recipes. To have someone accurately translate these into simple pressure cooker recipes for a novice is wonderful.

Each time I have made my husband something from this cookbook, he has said, 'You have to mark that recipe, it's a keeper'. It got to the point where I told him, you will have to tell me when there is something you don't like because so far you have told me to mark every single recipe as delicious.

I have yet to find a recipe in this book that is not absolutely delicious, easy to follow, and accurate. In the other book that I purchased, Miss Vicki's book, I have found that there are errors, as in not enough fluid in the recipes, that have been costly. I am still trying to save my pressure cooker from the last recipe of hers that I made,'Italian Beef Simmered in Tomato-Garlic Sauce'. There are good recipes in her book, but after following her recipe precisely and reading it 4 times because there didn't seem to be enough fluid in it to cook the ingredients for 15 minutes at 15psi, I made it and found out that there wasn't enough fluid...which can be really bad in a pressure cooker. I ended up with a very dry, edible at best, meal that I had to add tomato sauce to after it was cooked to try and salvage it for dinner. The bottom of my pressure cooker is stained from the almost burned ingredients.

As an experienced cook, I can tell you that both of these are good cookbooks. As a fairly inexperienced pressure cooker user, The Easy Pressure Cooker Cookbook is my Go To book for recipes. It is easy to follow, accurate and everything is delicious. As I become more confident and develop better instincts by using this wonderful cookbook, I will be experienced enough to trust my instincts when using Miss Vicki's book and correct the recipes where they need to be corrected.

I highly recommend this cookbook. NOTE: I have read some of the reviews from people whose recipes are not turning out. This book is written for pressure cookers cooking at 15psi (stovetop models). Electric pressure cookers do not reach this, and generally cook at 10psi. I have yet to find a cookbook for Electric pressure cookers, so I cannot help with this. You will have to extend the cooking times if you bought this for an Electric pressure cooker.

This book is mostly targeted toward stove-top pressure cookers. Also the recipes are guidelines more or less. 9 times out of 10 your going to have to radically adjust the ingredients to get a harmonious outcome depending on the type and size of your cooker. If you follow the recipes verbatim chances are your going to have a train wreck the first time. That being said, you can see what needs altering after the first go around. My only regret is I purchased this in the Kindle format. I should have purchased it in it's traditional book type format so I could notate each recipe and write my adjustments inside the book for the next go around. Don't purchase this if you have a 6 quart electric cooker and expect everything to go flawlessly the first attempt. Do a test run first.

Please note, I gave the review, 3 stars, however.. just received this book the other day. Overall, I think it's a beautiful book and I will get much use out of it. I read MANY of the reviews (which were very positive) before purchasing as well. This is my first pressure cooker of any sort. I have an electric one (7 qt). I read the directions that came with mine a few times and so did my fiance as well. Then we decided to try one of the recipes in this book. He felt like having the Chili (the Tex Mex one). Being we are both newbies to the pressure cooker world (however I am a very experienced cook and have been told a very good one at that), we followed the recipe to a "T." Well, after the final result, it had waaaaay too much liquid (again, following the recipe to a "T." Also, they state that seasonings tend to be "much more enhanced in a pressure cooker because of the pressure. Not here. It was SO bland I can't begin to tell you. And that was following the EXACT recipe. After the "finished" product had sat, we had to really season quite a bit more and add more salt. Next time, I am going to omit some or maybe all of the beef stock in this particular recipe (I think the tomato puree would have been enough liquid) then possibly the Chili would have been nice and thick - like a Chili is supposed to be instead of soup! But, we aren't going to be hard on ourselves; this is a learning experience : ) A lot different than conventional stove top/oven cooking or even crock pot. I am looking forward to trying more recipes. That's the only way to learn and get better!

I'm totally new to the wonderful, possibility filled world of pressure cooking. For me this book would be well worth the price even if it hadn't been discounted by Amazon.

It is truly a treasure trove of receipes, tips and common sense suggestions. It is divided into the standard categories of soups, poultry, legumes, etc.

The receipes, combine ingredients for relatively healthy, tasty meals. In the cooking time charts at the beginning of each category, the book isolates ingredients in case you just want to cook a pot of rice or a bunch of parsnips. Very useful information - all in one place.

I'm looking forward to Pressure cooking my first cheesecake this weekend. Thanks for making everything so easy, Diane!

I had the privilege of taking a class from Chef Phillips recently. She made recipes from this book and they were so great that I had to buy her cookbook.

I have found the recipes to be delicious and thoroughly tested. They come out tasty every time and I haven't had to make timing adjustments for my pressure cooker. The biggest plus is being able to make risotto in easily 1/3 of the time that a traditional preparation would require (and no stirring). This is a real plus on those busy nights where you want to prepare a nice dinner, but are short on time.

The recipes are easy to follow and the writing is engaging and informative. This book is quickly becoming my "go to" cookbook.
