2.0 su 5 stelle Be Careful MOVIE fans! 20 novembre 2005
Di MARCO VELASQUEZ III - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I wanted to give a warning to ALL fans of the "ORIGINAL"

Soundtrack Score!

Now i have NOT heard this CD here. But you CANT

blame THIS band, It says NOWHERE that they "claim

to be" the soundtrack to John Boorman's GREAT

movie.

Many Artists and Bands are "facinated" by the

Authurian Mythos and this is just another take, all

depends on your Music Genre' tastes.

The ORIGINAL score was composed by "Trevor

Jones" (now DONT be confused by Trevor Rabin-

the Awesome South African Guitarist of Rrabbit/solo

albums and Singer/guitarist of 4 YES albums-

turned Soundtrack Composer).

I have seen people say "This album used the

LOGO of the movie"- well... if you look closer, its NOT.

Also people/reviewers are trying to give US

some-sort of an "education on Classical Music"-

to LEARN that the Pieces in the soundtrack are

"Famous Classical Compositions" and that can

easily be found by their respective composers.

Well THEY are missing the point of the soundtrack,

Trevor Jones ALSO had to fill the movie sequences

with music between the Classic music pieces.

And they are Wonderous, Mysterious, Haunting,

Sensual, Epic and Beautiful.

I have not seen the "so-called" RE-Master, but if its

better than the "Boot-leg" that has been going

around, it does'nt have to go "too far" because the

boot-leg is actually quite "Well Done!"

Unfortunatly, the PRICE of it goes from 30 to 80

bucks! (the boot-leg)

Below is the track listing-

Album Title:

Excalibur

Composer:

Trevor Jones

Year Released:

1981/1998

5.  A Dance At The Court Of King Arthur -1:17

6.  The Lady Of The Lake -1:32

7.  Lancelot And Guinevere -10:34

8.  The Wedding -1:05

9.  Camelot -3:27

10.  Knights Of The Round Table -0:41

11.  A Challenge Of Honour -3:04

12.  Quest For The Holy Grail -3:57

13.  Mordred's Lair -1:49

14.  Percival -11:50

15.  The Land Of The King -4:10

16.  The Death Of Arthur -6:38

17.  Alternate Theme -1:28

18.  Alternate End Titles -3:31

  Total Time: 65:51

If the Soundtrack etc. DOES'NT have the name of

Trevor Jones on the Discription, well it's NOT thee

soundtrack folks.

Note:

Many Heavy Metal and Progressive Rock/Metal

bands sing of the Arthurian Legends, you may want

to check out various bands of the genre'. TOO many

to mention.

But the 2 that are pretty famous are the Metal Band

"Grave Digger", which is their own take on the

Legend.

And the "opera" by Rik Wakeman -the Keyboardist

of Yes fame with- "Knights of the Roundtable", which

has its momments. But there are soo many more!

Keep your EYES open, and you may enjoy THIS

"Excalibur" band if you KNOW its NOT the soundtrack.

I hope this helps.
5.0 su 5 stelle Does anyone know how to read anymore? 1 giugno 2014

What is going on in our society when 17 people mistakenly thought this was the soundtrack to Excalibur just because of the title and the picture?? Then they overzealously hit the BUY button without further researching the info of this release. How on earth could anyone read the song titles and think this had anything to do with the movie??!! Either no one knows how to read or they're just too lazy to bother. Guess it serves 'em all right that they mistakenly bought what they didn't want or read.

3.0 su 5 stelle I was gonna write a bad review, but... 31 agosto 1999

I was gonna write a bad review, but... Then I saw how trashed it already was. Music tastes vary dramaticly. I hate this, but I though if you like Vanessa-Mae, the musician who plays classics with an electric violin then you might enjoy this. My sister loves Vanessa-Mae, and low an behold she liked this white elephant gift. The CD might appeal to fans of the Movie "Labrinth". The CD consists of electronic/ new age reworkings of classical pieces. I perfer the pure unadulterated classics. Some don't...
I suggest, Carl Orff's Opera "Carmina Burana" (has 'O Fortuna', note only this one track makes the "Carmina Burana" worthy of purchase.) I suggest as well, Prokofiev's "Alexander Nevsky" Soundtrack, for fans of 'O fortuna' and the Conan Soundtracks.
Please Post where you can purchase the Limited Edition Excaliber.
The Album's cheesy sound effects belong in a Seventies Greek Mythology Movie with Lou Farigno(?) A.K.A. The Hulk.

1.0 su 5 stelle 'Excalibur' (1981) by John Boorman this is not! 11 ottobre 2002

I heard alot of complaints, and you have a right to be sore. Some people spend like [price[ on an album expecting to hear the 'Excalibur'(1981) movie sound track. Let me save you some disappointment and money,Carl Orff(German composer) wrote 'Carmina Burana-O Fortuna' and Richard Wagner(German composer) wrote 'Siegfried's Funeral March'(Twilight of the Gods-The Ring Cycle). These two songs were played in the movie soundtrack 'Excalibur'(1981) by John Boorman. I listen to a lot of classical German music, thats why I'm familar with these songs and composers. These two albums can be purchased at bargain basement prices ... each an album,it will greatly save you some disappointment and heartbreak.
