Ho tristemente scoperto, ahimè, che questa versione tedesca ha i sottotitoli solo in tedesco, pur avendo audio anche in inglese. Purtroppo, poiché per coloro che hanno problemi di udito la cosa diventa davvero ardua da seguire...

Well, being a Science-Fiction fun and a rp player I do not base my judgment on special effects but on the whole of putting togheter story and characters, so IF you are a fun of those big BOOM and SMASH in the comics and care better for stunning graphics then the storyline....then definitely this will NOT be your favourite serie and you can quit this page....

However, if you are more interested in the story and the events that unfold...then maybe you will like Farscape and you will enjoy the characters adventures in uncharted lands. It is a fairly simple background, like the very first of Star Trek, where most of the action was based on the two or three rooms of the Enterprise and some really crappy planets...but hey!...did any of us really care ? I think millions did like Star Trek (the first three season, you know, the old three red, yellow and blue boxes) not for the fancy effects but for the characters and the way they interacted not only between themselves but with the neverending difficoulties that met them.

Oh yes, the language is English and there are no subtitles in this edition.....for me it is no big deal, knowing English pretty well, but if THAT is an obstacle to you, have a look on youtube and on how easy is to add subtitles to films (pretty much 5 min of work with any free software for any episode). I found that at this price it really is an excellent bargain to have all the series AND the Extras AND the "Peacekeepers Wars".

In Italy we say..."Ai posteri l'ardua sentenza"...something like "Who will come after me will better judge".

One of the best Sci-Fi series you'll ever see!

I'm not lying when I'm saying how awesome this series is, what helps make it great is that many of the practical effects were done by Jim Henson's Creature Shop which makes the creatures and the aliens appear a lot more real, however the CGI is very...dated. The worst parts are seeing Rygel as he walks since he's a puppet, but the out-takes are hilarious!

A great way it hooks you in is the opening story where John Crichton (Ben Browder) is an astronaut on Earth, doing an experimental maneuver using the slingshot theory as a means to travel further in space, however, a wormhole opens and he finds himself in some unknown part of the universe and in the middle of a fierce battle. As we follow John because technology out here is SOOO vast and beyond our own (even by today's standards) he has to have everything explained to him which frustrates the crew he's with since it's all common knowledge to them like flipping on a light switch but even John (who is a physicist) struggles to grasp the concepts around different technologies, but he tries his best considering he's on the run.

This series is one of those hidden classics, not enough people know about it and this collection also included the peacekeeper wars that cap off the end of the series after it had been canceled.

Fantastic, Not much to add to other reviews. Will make you laugh, cry and hide behind the sofa. Buy it, you won't regret it.

After a few weeks viewing, I'm even more impressed.......the cuts that were/ are evident on TV are not present on this Blu Ray release. What a difference it makes, too. Language is slightly fruitier, but never crude. The sexuality of the show is far more engaging, to the extent that on TV, you were left bemused by the cuts, wondering "eh, what just happened there". Well, wonder no longer. Zhan has a blue bottom and very nice it is too.

The commentaries are the best I've heard on DVD or Blu-Ray. They are funny and honest and not self-congratulatory, like some. The hard work, commitment and love for the show really comes out in the extras. In my opinion, the team's magnum opus.

First Time I've posted a review, why never before, well never had anything that wasn't already covered by someone else! Until now anyway, this is a brief review of Farscape definitive Collection on Blu Ray. Now most people will be aware that this is an upscaled pseudo HD picture as the original masters are currently on Walkabout in Australia. However I wanted to clarify that this is a significant upgrade from stander def picture and offers better image then upscaled image as well. The print isn't perfect the biggest weakness, and this is not in many episodes, is where they inserted stock footage as this was a lower standard to begin with and so is noticeable soft and lacking in fine details. In general you have faith colour with Skin tone and blacks holding up well as does the sfx on the principle characters and puppets. So picture wise a good solid performance I'd rate as 3.5 - 4 throughout.

The Other item often see as a negative is the presentation of 4:3 image which is how it was shot! Now some shows were filmed in widescreen with suitable safe areas etc but Farscape was not one of these from the research I've seen. The quality of the show means after the first few mins you don't notice the black bars and this doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show.

Now audio is where it really shines with new loss less sound tracks. I'm outputting via a THX certified amp 7.1 systems and the audio makes good use of all channels and creates an encompassing sound stage. I feel this makes better use of the soundscape then much larger productions like STNG where the sound mix is less of a strength often feeling sparse. Now from a purely personal perspective I always find upgrade to sound adds more to the viewing experience then just the video. Audio wise I'd give it a solid 5 stars.

Farscape is a show that remains both underrated and a cult classic and whether its brand new to you or you've bought it before on DVD at the current price point its well worth jumping in.

Forget the negative reviews...this is a great upscaled version of the original and the sound top notch...they really have made a great job of rejuvinating this great series...I loved the original...but of course we didn'nt know better back then and technology was still in it's infantsy..I never saw the end of the series so when I read a great review by Bertie Buggerington I decided to go for it...especially at the this bargain price...88 episodes for less the £30...what more can you ask for..I have given 5 stars because my opinion differs to his in the fact I think it's a wonderful job they have done...and he reviewd this blu ray back when blu ray players were in their early days and they have moved on and play this series very well..I use an LG 3D blu ray.
Anyway...if you enjoyed the original you will certainly enjoy this...get it while you can at this price..Cheers

For myself, the story, plot, characters are all well designed as well as gritty rather than the clean/clear more well known science - fiction series. The puppets express sufficient emotions and as well as the voice acting and the puppet movement to portray the human equivalent emotions we seek in order to empathise with a character and build distaste, likeness and love.
Their are a number of story arcs within individual stories and a great plot overall.

If you want Sci-Fi with bite, humor, nods to mainstream TV as well great characters and a superb story, then you should buy this.
