I don’t even think it’s an exaggeration that half of these reviews are just people upset what this product isn’t, rather than what it is. Most of these reviews were written before the product was released. But I digress, here’s a review of the product in hand. For full transparency, I was able to snag this when the price dropped to $106.99 rather than the nearly $140 it is now. So my review will reflect that at the end.

Video/Audio: is this a noticeable upgrade over the Blu-ray transfers? Yes, absolutely. I haven’t watched every film from beginning to end, but I definitely remember how I’ve always remembered the films and this looks and sounds fantastic. Even the mono tracks are included for the purists. I do wish it was an atmos or at least a 7.1, but the 5.1 is plenty great as well.

Packaging: this is where the set shines. This is a really durable set, well made. Especially makes it unusual the standard set is so flimsy because this is on the other spectrum. It’s solid. The book has plenty of information and set photos on nice paper with great printing. My only complaint is how the disks are packaged. They slide out of a cardboard sleeve built into the set. It’s not my preference, but even the old Omertà set had an issue where they were way too secure and one of my disks actually broke because of it. Paramount just can’t find a good balance, but a small blemish in an otherwise great package. A small nitpick, but I also wish the spine had the title, just be nicer on a shelf that way, but I’ll probably display it from the front anyway.

The set also includes three prints for each film, very nice prints, hi res pics. Definitely plan to frame them. Digital code is also included and they have separate codes for each film.

Is this set worth $140, maybe, but I also think if you’re willing be patient, this is easily worth the 106 I paid, but overall a very nice set with a couple of small issues.

Amazon shipped it in a special heavy duty box that protected it very well on the outside—“Made to fit your order”. And it was delivered with care. So the 5 disc set comes in a Premium box that looks like it belongs on your coffee table 24/7. The picture book is beautiful and perfectly holds the 5 disks. The fine art prints are premium as well. The prints are definitely worthy of hanging up on a premium frame. I purchased it on black friday for $89.91, today it is $155.97. I went on a limb never seeing the box in person, but if I found this at a friends house I would prob pay retail.

I ordered this thinking it would be a small booklet sized case, however when it arrived it was the size of a large coffee table book. Not only that but Amazon lists this as having only three discs, that’s not true. There are two bonus discs, both blu-ray. One contains the original cut of The Godfather part III and the other is special features concerning the franchise as a whole. It also contains a brief book about the making of the trilogy and beneath the book is a specially commissioned set of three prints of art depicting Vito and Michael Corleone. This set is very worth it if you are a fan of Mario Puzo’s classic story, or if you are simply a film buff.

These movies look beautiful. The first two in particular. Some of the best mixed Atmos. Truly atmospheric. My favorite part is from part II, in the boat house scenes, the gurgling and flowing sounds of the lake are completely behind you. The same is true for the birds and all background noises.

The three paintings it comes with are beautifully done.

People have said they’ve had problems with the discs just falling out, but they’re secure in mine.

This is a great set and, despite the price difference, I’d go for this over the other one available.
