Recensioni clienti

The wood is a very light softwood - less dense than you'd find at B&Q for example - so not as strong and more open grained. This may well be because it is a fast growing variety and maybe from sustainable sources - so could be a good thing. It also keep the whole unit light (but not too strong). You'd not want to sit on this but it is totally fine for plants.
The wood has a light 'primer' applied but with the wood being so open it just soaks up paint. I used Ronseal Garden Paint (RSLGPSG25L) which (IMHO) is excellent. The first 2 coats soaked straight in. I ended up giving it 5 coats - not out of choice but because this is what was needed to cover the 'primer'. The good side is that the paint dries so quickly that 2 coats can be applied one after the other. (nb I do like to lightly sand between coats so this generally means more painting!)
In the future I am planning to try a good quality primer/undercoat to start with.
This isn't craftsman made but it is very well 'engineered'. Everything fits just right and quality fixings are used. Nice 'touches' like fitting washers between the wooden slats shows that the designers have thought about this and done the right thing. I didn't want craftsman made (= twice the price) Much better to have it a little 'rustic' and at this price point.
The assembly instructions are poor and you need to take care with getting the pieces the right way round etc. It's a lot of screws so I'd recommend an electric screwdriver. Don't tighten everything up as you go but leave it all a bit loose until complete then tighten it all up at once at the end. I found I needed a bit of slack to get the shelves in place.
Two quick notes .... the largest 'H' part has bits of polythene sheet stapled in place and I wasn't sure what these were for. I assumed that they were 'packing' because it looked a bit naff BUT I left them on anyway - glad I did because the shelves sit on this polythene and it was definitely there for a reason. You don't see it when assembled so being naff isn't a problem at all. Second thing is that there are 6 small round packing pieces of wood that need painting before assembly - I put them to one side not knowing what they were so it delayed the assembly because I had to give them 5 coats after I'd already done the main frame.
The final thing isn't big. The shelves would take a shoe box OK and it comes up to about an adult hip.
Now it's painted, assembled and in use I think its a really cracking stand . It'd be lovely to have it all factory finished but that would increase the price of course (and have limited colour options) - I would however prefer a better quality and lighter primer used - it did take a lot of painting. I'm surprised how good it is for the price and would definitely be happy to buy another. I'm trying a few other products from this team but am really impressed with this.
With the other products I think I will do a little more prep first - just to take of the corners and edges with glasspaper.
