L'autore

J.K. Rowling is best known as the author of the seven Harry Potter books, which were published between 1997 and 2007. The enduringly popular adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione have gone on to sell over 500 million copies, be translated into over 80 languages and made into eight blockbuster films. Alongside the Harry Potter series, she also wrote three short companion volumes for charity: Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in aid of Comic Relief and Lumos, and The Tales of Beedle the Bard, in aid of Lumos. J.K. Rowling collaborated with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany to continue Harry's story in a stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which opened in London in 2016 and is now playing worldwide. In the same year, she made her debut as a screenwriter with the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first in a series featuring Magizoologist Newt Scamander, which was inspired by the original companion volume. J.K. Rowling has also written a standalone novel, The Casual Vacancy, and is the author of the Strike crime series under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Both have been adapted for television. In 2020 J.K. Rowling returned to publishing for younger children with the fairy tale The Ickabog, the royalties from which she is donating to groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Her latest children's novel The Christmas Pig, a standalone adventure story, was published in 2021. She has received many awards and honours, including an OBE and a Companion of Honour for services to literature and philanthropy. She lives in Scotland with her family.

Gran bella edizione di una serie che è ormai un classico, grazie JK Rowiling grazie casa editrice. Se magari la Salani facesse edizioni così, ma capisco che in Italia siamo pochi rispetto al mondo anglofono.

Il libro si apre con un’introduzione alla fondatrice (o fondatore) della casa, accompagnata da una bellissima illustrazione in bianco e nero. Vengono descritte le caratteristiche e qualità della casa, la “reliquia della casa”, ovvero gli horcux, lo stemma e il fantasma. Occupa poi due facciate la mappa di Hogwarts e dei dintorni, in bianco e nero.

Alla fine del romanzo si trova una pagina dedicata allo Smistamento; un quiz a risposta multipla sulla casa del libro scelto; un approfondimento sulla sala comune e la coppa delle case; ed infine delle schede dedicate ai personaggi più memorabili della casa. Il libro si chiude con “J.K Rowling – Twenty Years of Magic”, una breve biografia delle opere della scrittrice.

Perchè acquistarlo?
L’edizione del ventennale di Harry Potter e la Pietra Filosofale è limitata, ed è quindi un pezzo da collezione. A mio parere il prezzo vale l’acquisto, e nonostante si tratti dello stesso libro, gli approfondimenti variano nei vari colori disponibili.

Mi sono piaciute moltissimo le illustrazioni, anche se avrei preferito fossero distribuite durante la storia e non sono all’inizio e alla fine del romanzo. Il formato del libro è forse un po’ piccolo rispetto alle edizioni precedenti, ma fa comunque la sua figura una volta messo in libreria. Personalmente ho acquistato la copertina rigida, e ho apprezzato molto le bordature colorate che riprendono i colori delle case.

Il libro è stato spedito insieme all'edizione di Serpeverde e nonostante avesse una doppia imbottitura di pluriball (un sacchetto dentro un altro sacchetto con dentro il libro, mentre quello di Serpeverde ne era del tutto sprovvisto) è arrivato con una piccola ammaccatura sul bordo della copertina. Non lo rispedisco indietro perché è un cosa lieve ed ignorabile (un collezionista più accanito non ci avrebbe pensato due volte a fare un reclamo), ma bisognerebbe trattare i libri con maggiore cura e con la stessa attenzione, soprattutto se spediti assieme e dallo stesso venditore.
Per il resto, volume immancabile per un appassionato della saga di Harry Potter sia se siete dei Grifondoro, sia se come me volete le edizioni di tutte e 4 le case. È in inglese ma se avete già letto le edizioni italiane non dovreste avere problemi a leggerlo e anzi potrebbe aiutarvi ad avere una maggiore comprensione della lingua. Contiene informazioni inedite sulla Casa, sul Fondatore, su alcuni membri e sui fantasmi.

bellissima edizione, ottima idea regalo per un appassionato della saga amante della casa griffondoro, peccato che il libro presenta qualche piccola ammaccatura\difetto. lo tengo perché non deturpano il libro, ma difetti che un vero collezionista non ammetterebbe per una collezione. spero che Amazon ponga più attenzione nel confezionamento dei libri futuri.

Sono una Potterhead, fiera di appartenere alla HarryPOtterGeneration, sono una Grifondoro su Pottermore (e in qualsiasi altro test che abbia mai fatto), ho qualsiasi Gadget immaginabile sul fantastico mondo di Harry Potter (fatto almeno tre cosplay a tal proposito) e ho tutti i libri sia in Italiano che in Inglese, dunque non potevo farmi di certo farmi scappare tra i calderoni l'edizione per i 20 anni della pubblicazione del primo libro di Zia Row, ovviamente della mia casa: Grifondoro!! E' stupendo, le immagini, le nuove informazioni e i Quiz.... semplicemente, magicamente MAGNIFICO!!!! Per la barba di Merlino libro imperdibile per i fan del maghetto con gli occhiali di Number 4 Privet Drive, nonché ottimo regalo per chi vuole cimentarsi in una lettura il inglese (difficoltà media). Arrivato 3 giorni in anticipo, in condizioni perfette!!! Solo averlo in mano è stata una tale emozione.... pre poco non mi è caduto il bicchiere di Burrobirra!!! Per tutti i folletti consiglio a tutti di prendere quello della propria casa di appartenenza!!!!! Ne vale la pena!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Per i fan di HP, non si può assolutamente non comprare questo libro-cimelio-commemorativo.
Arrivato nei tempi, perfettamente imballato e sigillato in una busta di plastica aggiuntiva per impedire righi e graffi. Quindi anche da regalare si presenta bene. La copertina ha impresso il simbolo della casa traslucido con i colori della casa. La costa forma i colori della casa. Le prime pagine ricche di immagini antiche, sono dedicate alle informazioni, sul fondatore della casa, i personaggi celebri che sono appartenuti a quella casa e il suo fantasma. Dopo di che parte il primo, fantastico capitolo del libro che tutti conosciamo quasi a memoria! Rigorosamente in lingua Inglese.

L'edizione è molto fine ed elegante, la sovracopetina è nera satinata con la stampa in rosso ed oro in rilievo.

Very nicely presented. I'll get my only complaint out of the way first: The information in the "Famous Gryffindor Alumni" and "Memorable Gryffindor Students" sections is mainly a re-hash of character info that's easily gleaned from reading the books themselves.

That being said, there are plenty of positives:
The illustrations of Godric Gryffindor and Minerva McGonagall are beautiful, and pretty close to how I always imagined them;
The House Ghost illustrations on the back covers of all four versions are a really nice touch;
I love that each house version has the primary house colour sprayed on the page edges (visible when the book is closed).

My book did come with an annoying "20 years" stickers on the front cover, but I was able to remove it without too much difficulty. Some very delicately applied white spirit took care of the residue (plus a careful sponging to get rid of the white spirit itself). Due to the finish, it was harder to remove the wretched sticker from this paperback version than it was to remove it from the dust jacket of the corresponding hardback. I fervently wish for an end to this fad of putting crappy stickers on beautiful things!

Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and at the time of writing this review, it's quite the bargain. So, I'm glad I snapped it up.

(My four-star review applies to this specific edition btw. The novel itself gets five stars).

I suspect these anniversary Bloomsbury editions are aimed at adults who were youngsters when they first read the novels and also for collectors of all things Harry Potter.

I fall into neither category; I love the films and thought it time I read the novels that, over the years, I've become persuaded can be enjoyed by all age groups.

The dust jackets are matt laminated with, in this case, the Gryffindor coat-of-arms and main title embossed and then all items spot gloss laminated – a very effective print finishing technique that works well with this kind of subject matter. The hardcover book itself has the title and details red foil-blocked on the spine only. A nice addition is the fore-edge printing in striped house colours and a solid colour for the head and foot.

The half-title page, colophon, title-page, contents etc. have the coat-of-arms again and various graphic embellishments in an engraved style in keeping with the Harry Potter world and then after the table of contents there's a very nice overview of the house founder, in this case Godric Gryffindor, including a beautiful engraved style illustration ending with a map of Hogwarts Castle and the key locations featured in the tales. There's yet more of the same content and illustrations in the same style at the end of the book featuring various characters and history connected with the particular 'house' and even a quiz.

The chapter headings have a 'pitted' letterpress cold-type print effect and a large drop-cap in the same style to begin the first paragraph. The body text font used for this edition is not named in the colophon page which is a shame but it does give the impression of antiquity without being cliched. The line and letter spacing is more than is common I would say making it very easy to read with other novelty fonts used to denote written letters and declarations that occur throughout the Harry Potter stories. I also like the off-white uncoated paper used which suggests the look and feel of old second-hand books; of which I have many!

All in all a lot of thought has gone into these publications it seems to me and are well described as special anniversary editions which I think are very good value for money and highly recommended.

For my part I intend to buy one each month to complete the set with the main decision being which house version is appropriate for each story in the Harry Potter series and then I'll make a book stand out of some old gnarly wood to display the collection in true Hogwarts style!

Great Book as I’m sure we all know. We all know and love the story. The new cover is beautiful for a unique 20th year edition.

The quality of the delivery way appalling... I would image that the scratches and, dents and rips happened in the warehouse and not the delivery persons fault.

A beautiful paperback edition of this classic book.
The red cover and red-edged pages are visually highly attractive and I am very tempted to buy the other editions in this format...

Also, the story is not bad either.
If the author keeps this up, she may well go on to have a very successful career 😉

Wanted to talk to someone but there isn't anyone to talk to. It would be a lovely addition to my collection, but the cover has a cut down it. So does the bottom of the pages. This is not acceptable, it must have been like this before it was sent.
