“I’ve been in and out of hospitals for the past ten months. I’ve had half my liver removed and even though this time the doctors are very optimistic that they’ve removed all of the tumours, they can’t be sure. In another three months they want me here again for a check up. Right now I feel better than I’ve ever felt. I know the damn thing is gone, at least for the moment. Despite that, I can’t make any plans for the future, not yet. I need to go somewhere where nobody knows me, where I can relax and maybe even forget about all this. Where I can meet people who don’t think of me as the girl who lost her father and her brother in a car accident, and who has cancer. I want to have fun, even if it’s for a couple of months.”

When Stella decides to visit her estranged cousin Lisa in Genoa, she has no idea Italy will give her a new reason to live.

“Her gaze locked on a scene so beautiful, the picturesque beach paled in comparison. A lifeguard emerged from the water, his orange trunks stuck to his legs and water dripping all over him. He shook his head to get rid of some of the water in his hair and Stella felt as if everything started developing in slow motion – tiny drops of water slid from his neck down his broad chest and muscular arms, along a weaving tattoo on his right shoulder, and continued downwards towards his chest and washboard stomach, finally getting lost in the waistband of his trunks. A part of another tattoo peeked over his trunks on his left hip, the other part hidden under them. It was a total Baywatch moment.”

Their love is epic. But there are too many things keeping them apart.

“How could you keep this from me, Lisa? If you had told me the first day I met him, I would have avoided him like the plague. Nothing would have happened between us.”
“I kept your secrets, too, Stella.”

Are Max and Stella strong enough to fight not only for their love, but for their lives?

Stand-alone novel.
Recommended for readers 17+ due to language, sexual situations and incredibly hot Italian lifeguards.
It's the complete story of Stella and Max, the other two books of the series will be about different characters, so there's no cliffhanger ending.

"WOW!!! Just WOW!!!
Completely overwhelmed with how much this book has affected me... It has reached in to the depths of my soul and has taken up permanent residence...
I LOVED it." ~ Kathryn Grimes at Tsk Tsk What to Read

"I absolutely LOVED In a Heartbeat. It started off strong and kept getting better and better. I was glued to the pages to read the story of Stella and Max. I adored both characters but Max is something special ladies, totally book boyfriend material! He is sexy, fun, and full of love he just didn’t know he had to give until he met Stella. His own storyline was so sad; my heart broke for him as well. I love that 95% of the book takes place in Italy. The descriptions and details did not go unnoticed and I felt like I was there with them (I wish). I could picture the setting in my head and that is how I know of a sign of a good writer when I can picture it as I read." ~ Jessica at Jessica's Book Review

"This book was really good, I loved it!
The story line was realistic and kept getting better as the story continued,I felt it related to real life situations.
It was well written and was easy to flow with the story and the characters were easy to connect with, which made it perfect to imagine the scenes and the emotions surrounding it.
Stella and Max have an amazing and real relationship, you will love them! I will definitely be recommending it as a must read." ~ Sarah

"I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with Max myself. I was willing to arm wrestle Stella for him. I beautiful story line. I could not put the book down. I was totally enthralled." ~ Veronica Bates

I loved this book so much! At first I wasn’t sure if I was emotionally ready for this but I am so glad I did! In a Heartbeat is about finding yourself and enjoying life after tragedy has struck not just once but a multiple of times. Our main character is Stella and she is a survivor. Our male lead is the very hot Max. I can really say too much on this story because it will give away huge parts but I’ll say a little something about how these two meet. Stella, after a heartbreaking accident, tries to get back to the life she lead before but is once again rocked with some terrible news. After restarting her life once more, she decides it’s time to enjoy life as much as she can and decides to travel to Italy to stay with her cousin for the summer. Little did she know that a chance encounter with a hot life guard would spark something in her she never thought she’d feel again. This is where we meet Max and the connection between the two is instant. Knowing what she knows about herself, Stella fights the strong attraction she has for Max because she knows nothing good can come of it. However Max isn’t easily swayed by her “friendship only” relationship and will push Stella past the point of no return. This is as much as I will tell you because A LOT happens in this book but it is a HEA book and the secondary characters are hilarious and I believe also get a story. You might shed some tears reading this but you get a HEA so do not fear. I do highly recommend this book!!

5.0 su 5 stelle Near Perfect Book... 25 aprile 2013

I absolutely adored this book. It had romance, jealousy, issues galore but man are the main characters just meant to be!!!! I have to say that I was scared and my stomach dropped when it was implied that the hero took two girls home with him when he was so mad at the heroine but I am happy to say that no one cheats on anyone in this story. I only had one issue with the book and even that did not cause me to rate it any lower than a 5. The heroine had 2 surgeries and the hero has seen her naked and in a bikini and the heroine is not self conscious about her body at all which leads me to my problem...where are her scars??? She just had a 2nd surgery before she left and no scars are mentioned at all. That is my only complaint!!! I loved how it had an epilogue!!! I had just got done tearing up on the last 2 chapters and then you turn the page and get such a beautiful epilogue. This is not a book I would want to miss out on and I recommend it to anyone who clicks to look this title over!!!

5.0 su 5 stelle Love, Forgiveness, Hope 25 aprile 2013

OH MY...I just finished In A Heartbeat last night and I have been thinking about it all day long. It's just one of those books that you can't get out of your head.

It tugged on every emotion that I had. Happiness, sadness, excitement, joy, laughter, fear ~ it was an EPIC read. I started the book late at night and usually when the nook hits you in the head it's time to put the book away. I just couldn't do it. I needed to know what was going to happen next for Stella and Max. Just one more chapter...until it was 5am and almost time for me to get up with my kids.

Would they ever be able to find their love that was so apparent to everyone around them? Stella is a stubborn girl and she had every right to be. The girl had been through enough in her lifetime. Heartbreak over and over again. But Max oh Max. He is not one to get out of your mind. This sexy Italian with a jealous streak bigger than Texas. Boy oh boy was he hot and romantic and just...sigh. But this book is not only about Max and Stella. It's about relationships, friendships, love lost and found. Forgiveness. There is Beppo, Gia and Lisa and all of their wonderfully complicated lives that pull you into the story even more.

Teodora did a wonderful job of painting characters that were so full of life and you felt as if you had known them forever. I wanted to go and hang out with them all in Italy! I need my passport now! I was blown away by this book! I would love to see more of Max and Stella. The in between years (hint Teodora) or even stories about the other characters. They were all so memorable. Even now I have a smile on my face thinking of them. If you want to read a book that will stay with you for a while. I HIGHLY recommend In a Heartbeat!

This was a very emotional story. The way she portraits Stella's insecurities about getting involved with someone because of her condition. I loved Max caveman personality. I would have loved that Beppe and Gias story had deepened. There was just too much of them that was left hanging. Also, Beppe's attitude towards Max at his birthday party... I just didn't get it. I wanted an explanation too. Ohh and Lisa and Gino too.. I have deeply intrigued by those too...

I can't tell you more than that because I would be giving away the story and I don't want to spoil it more than I just did :P
