Heli Hofmann was born in the countryside of Bavaria, Germany and emigrated to California in the fall of 1978. Her paintings capture and enhance the beauty of her homeland’s idyllic landscapes, baroque churches, picturesque villages, as well as California’s Spanish missions, flower fields, and sunlit beaches. Her paintings enchant the viewer with bold strokes, vivid colors, and harmony of land and sky. Her extensive travels around the globe are depicted in new visions of rural and urban beauty. Her artworks tap into her bicultural identity and experiences. Her post-impressionistic style has influences of artists such as Franz Marc, August Macke, Gabriele Münter, as well as the early works of Wassily Kandinsky.
