High Striker (English Edition) Formato Kindle
In 2018, Dr. Amos Konklin, a renowned neurosurgeon dubbed “Doctor Golden Hands,” is arrested for a grisly double-homicide at the Old Wilderness Campground. During a mesmerizing interview with reporter Peter Wild, Dr. Konklin reveals a shocking secret. For decades he’s wrapped those golden hands around a twelve pound sledge-hammer, his instrument of choice in numerous executions. As the reporter probes deeper, he is lead into a world where a brain surgeon who spent his childhood running the “High Striker” carnival sideshow game is connected to Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla, The Bible, and tormenting visions. High Striker is an unparalleled Old Testament/Carnivale thriller. It's a remarkable journey through time, a saga of the Konklin family spanning generations, exploring religious, intellectual, and philosophical perspectives of the human condition. Ultimately, it dares to confront the challenging question: What is the line that separates good and evil, coincidence and providence, delusion and reality?

Interesting but sometimes bumpy ride!

This is not what I would call a "fast read." I was left scratching my head after reading the first couple of chapters in this book, but I really don't like putting down a book once I start. I stuck with this one, and I was even more confused when I continued reading shortly afterwards. If nothing else, I had to finish this book just because I could not leave it on an dissonant unresolved chord, and the author does a good job of leaving you hanging on that chord for a long time, varying the tempo of the book from "andante" to "allegro", and covering almost every imaginable social issue from teenage angst to fortune-telling. By the time I completed the book, the chord was never completely resolved by the author, but most readers will find that they will resolve it in their own minds, although they may not realize it.
THIS BOOK CAUSES YOU TO W O N D E R ! ! !

This book was very good and a small amount confusing. I'm sure that if I were paying attention I would have realized when they got to the part about Amos, but to my knowledge they called him Dr. Konklin( if I misspelled that, I am sorry) through the beginning. I wanted to know how he came to do what he did, and with the set-up of the story, I wasn't sure if I did or if I would. Very intriguing though, and I will probably read it again.
Good story line.

This was a weird read, but it sure was fun!!. I can't say it reminded me of such and such a book, because it is very original.
