A story about withdrawal from the world by merging with it through a house in Norway, inhabited by material and immaterial beings, some that are there to stay, some that come and go. A dreamy journey spoken with various different voices, a bit mysterious, a bit sexy, a bit fun and a bit scary.
Valentina was born in Rome, from Roman parents, yet never lived there, instead growing up in New Zealand, Venezuela, Peru, The Philippines, Italy, Spain and England. Her whole life was spent in an effort to learn to communicate with people, and dealing with the consequences of her failures or successes to do so, and often messing it up. She has written many books and left them, this is the first one she decided to finish. For most of her life she was a translator, a language teacher, an interpreter. Her life was characterised by much tumultuousness, pain and joy, until her first two beautiful children arrived and then it all had a purpose and a direction. She met her husband in 2004 and since then life has been a very different story, with a new child added to the mix, life in England, a gorgeous dog, cats, and birds. Achieving a semblance of stability allowed her to write this book in a Nanowrimo burst. In the meantime, she continues to translate, and is in the process of writing a new, much longer book.
