FROM THE BACK COVER:
Who am I?
My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen and I'm about to die.
I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking.
Some will say that I m not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don t even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.
My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen. I'm about to die.
So who are you?
In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Black, Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves.
Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally. (Young Adult)

Being relatively new to Ted Dekker's work I completed 2 parts of the series Water Walker in the last two days, one of which was free and the 2nd one I purchased. As the 3rd and 4th aren't available for another few weeks I couldn't take that one any further for now. Have to say by the time they are available I'll have moved on to several other books and won't be so keen to purchase any more thus never seeing how the storyline pans out. The reason I refer to the other series is that the main character in it is Alice who became Eden when reunited with her 'birth mother'. When I discovered that the same Alice was in Eyes Wide Open series I was keen to read what had happened to Alice in her younger childhood in an effort to discover why she only has a six month memory. Well in this book Christy ends up taking on the mistaken identity of Alice, another psychiatric patient, so by the end of book 1 I'm no further on in knowing anything about Alice as so far she appears to have disappeared, her whereabouts unknown for now.
In my review of Water Walker I mentioned that according to US Amazon reviews, Dekker does interweave some characters from one series to another, and reviewers liked this aspect, however so far I can't say I agree, if the characters are simply mentioned and not developed. Perhaps I need to complete a whole series in order to comment fairly on this aspect.
As for the storyline, I did find it gripping and very readable, completing this episode in an hour or so. However I'm pretty sure I had already read this before, but as I couldn't remember the ending from the first time around I read on...... Only to discover the reason..... There is no ending.
Do I want to pay another £4-5 to complete this series? At this moment in time I'm not sure if it's going to be worth it or not as it gets very mixed reviews overall. Dekker appears to be losing a section of his fan base by using this episode at a time marketing ploy. I'd much rather have a completed episode 1 story followed by a further development of story line and characters in subsequent episodes. That way I wouldn't feel cheated that the storyline isn't completed in one book at a time.
In summary, I really liked the story lines and the gripping read, but don't like the format of pay as you read.

Personally it did nothing for me I didnt have enough time to connect with the characters to continue with the series and found the way two people on two separate occasions managed to get into a secure unit all a bit too implausible.
I wish i had read the reviews before starting but had downloaded this some time ago and started to read thinking at least this was a full book in a series and if it was good i would buy others and if it wasn't i wouldn't.. In the end all i got was half a story.
