Maggie and Caleb must tie up all the loose ends of their lives and make a way to be together completely on their own. With everything that happened with Bish and Maggie's father, she's almost reluctant to move on and move out. And now she must figure out all of this...stuff...with Haddock. But of course, nothing can stay simple for the Jacobsons. Enemies who were thought to be dissolved have decided to not go down so easily. And old flames come calling for more than just Maggie. Caleb is torn between leading his family and personal wants. Maggie is torn between Caleb and being the leader of their people. But neither will let what they need most to be pushed to the wayside. They are determined to make it all work, design a plan toward destiny, and make everything right again for themselves and their family.

And then there's a wedding...

*Once you finish INDEPENDENCE, make sure you read CONSEQUENCE, the next book, in the Significance series.

5.0 su 5 stelle Fantastic ending to an Amazing series 17 dicembre 2012
Di Danielle - Pubblicato su

*deep sigh* As much as I was looking forward to reading this authors final book to the Significance Series, I didn't prepare myself for the bittersweatness of it. It's like saying goodbye to friends that you know you are never going to see again, and that sucks! I can't imagine writing a series of books and then being done.

This book is by far my favorite one of the series and not just because there's a wedding, but because it shows the tremendous growth each character has. Not just Caleb and Maggie grow, but Bish and Jen, Kyle and Lynee (well Kyle doesn't really grow up lol), but you get the idea! There's so much happening with the clans and all the changes that Caleb and Maggie hope to bring to their world.

But with the good comes the bad, sadly. Though Marcus is now human he can't get over his infatuation and well grudge with the Jacobson's. You would think since he's human he would let it go right? Well he doesn't. But what does he do this time around? Does he accomplish what he set out to? Do Caleb and Maggie stop him? You're going to have to read to find that out!

Then there's the lovely Maggie, the Visionary, is she able to stop the vision she saw of Bish and Jen? How is she handling the responsibility? All we really want is to see Maggie and Caleb happy and married right? Well we all know there's a wedding, but what else goes on? Nothing can be that easy right? Well Haddock wants to be a part of Maggie's life, but does she let him? Does Jim know that he's not Maggie's biological father? So many questions are answered and then there's more to added in too!

I can honestly say I love the ending of this book. So more than what I expected and am truly thrilled how that the author ended it this way, I could not be happier. Well actually I could, maybe I could find my Significant and we can umm mutualize!

3.0 su 5 stelle Oh I wanted so much more 18 dicembre 2012

I was excited about the final book in the significance series. I loved the previous three, and have re-read them all a number of times. There is just something beautiful about the way the romance between Caleb and Maggie is written, it is so sweet and tender that it just makes me sigh. I was so eager to read about their happy ever after in Independence wanting to get lost in that great connection. It is actually hurts a bit to write this, but Independence left me disappointed.

Let me start with the bits that I did like. That wonderful connection and romance is still there between Caleb and Maggie. I loved that we got so see them have their happily ever after, I loved that we got to see them married, (and finally become one). I loved that none of that amazing connection was lost in the last book, and it remained a sweet and innocent YA read about soul mates. I liked that Maggie was finally comfortable with the skills and not doubting herself or Caleb, making her a much stronger and confident character. I liked Caleb (could any guy be that sweet really?). I also liked that for the most part everyone else's story was completed. For these reason's it got three stars, it's the ending everyone wants.

Now for what did not leave me all warm and fuzzy, but rather disappointed and annoyed. It was all the other bits of the story, it did not have the wow of the previous books of `where is this going', it honestly felt like bits of the previous were repeated, and because of this it felt like the magic was lost. Apart from the wedding there did not seem to be anything tying the story together. The storyline was very thin, without any of the depth of the previous books. I did wonder what was going to happen in the previous books, but this one felt so obvious and held no mystery. There was so much that could have been done that wasn't. What happened to the storyline of Maggie and Caleb taking on the council and changing Significants to make them better people? What happened to Maggie being the all mighty Visionary? ( Apart from this being used a small amount, it was hardly bought up, to me I felt she lost power because of this.)

In addition secondary (or maybe I should third) characters where returned that I still don't know why. Maggie's mum and Chad, both make appearances. Why? Their part in the story was finished in previous books, the part they played in this book added nothing to Maggie and Calebs tale. If it was to add any conflict or tension, it did not work for me, it felt like just reading their parts from the previous books. We already knew what they were like, it just reinforced this, adding nothing, and not learning anything new either. On top if this Maggie has a huge falling out with Beck, again I am not really sure what this added to the book apart from wondering why Maggie has such poor taste in friends, and is this what you really want to be doing by book four, questioning if the main character is stupid?

But one of the things that annoyed me the most was about Maggie and Caleb trying to change a vision. This vision involving themselves, and Bish and Jen, at the beach. So what do they do - go to the beach!!!! Argh, this annoyed me.

I wanted to love this book as much as the previous ones, but I'm so sorry to say I didn't. The plot was very thin, repetitive and very predictable. I know that even after giving this review, I am still going to tell you to read the book. If you have read the previous ones you want to know how Shelly chose to end Maggie and Caleb's story. The happy ever after ending is nice, but I wanted more than just that. I wanted the magic of the previous books, and this one did not have it.
Will I read it again? No
Would I recommend it? Yes, hopefully you will not be disappointed like me

5.0 su 5 stelle OUTSTANDING book and SERIES!! 16 dicembre 2012
Di Author Mary Smith - Pubblicato su
Formato: Formato Kindle
I am so glad that I grab the tissues because the tears started right away! Maybe it was because this was the end of the series, maybe it was just the heartache that Caleb and Maggie just can't catch a break and have a normal day of their lives!

Best part of the book: THE WHOLE BOOK WAS AMAZING! Maggie and Caleb are still the greatest characters! The book picks up right where Book 3 left off at. However, Maggie and Caleb just can't catch a break. Just when we thought they would be able to head home, go to college and get married, another wrench is thrown into the plan. Then when one problem gets solve another issue arises and it seems like a constant battle to the end. The one thing that remains the same is Caleb and Maggie's love for each other. Shelly Crane brought back all the character and each is a significant part of the story. Of course, Shelly writes like a dream and I was craving more with every turn of the page!

Not so great about the book: It's over!! *sniff* *hangs head* I will miss them so much! However, the plus side is I now have them all and I can continue to visit them whenever I want!

4.0 su 5 stelle Wonderful Ending to a Great Series 17 dicembre 2012

First off, I really enjoy Shelly Crane's books for a couple of reasons; she does not write detailed sex, her characters are fully fleshed out, the relationships between her characters are real and enjoyable, and she creates real problems not fake I'm hiding secrets from you problems. That being said, this is my favorite series by Shelly, although her Stealing Grace duo takes a close second.
**Contains Spoilers**
This book is the conclusion of Maggie and Caleb's story. As we have enjoyed the series, we have brought in Bish, Jen, Kyle, Lynne, and Fiona. I loved all of these characters. I will admit that while I loved the first person POV in the first 3 books in this one I wished that I could have walked with the other significants for a little while also. This book encompasses the wedding, starting college, defeating Marcus, and Maggie trying to figure out how to balance the human world with the Ace one. I thought it was very well done, but a little anti-climactic. For those that love Maggie and Caleb, it was so wonderful to get to enjoy their happy ending for a little while with them. I have to add that I thought Maggie was right to forgive Beck for being horrible but I think it was time to end that friendship; a true friend doesn't walk away being totally self-centered and then apologize and start doing the same thing all over again :/ ugh!
The book needed a little more editing, so if the occasional missed word, wrong word, etc bothers you, you might want to pass on this one.
I thought the book was beautiful and wonderful and I am so sad to see the Jacobsons go. I would love to see more books set in the Ace world *wink, wink* Ms. Crane :)

Overall: If you love a good romance without detailed sex, please please start this series and enjoy Shelly Crane's other books. This series will make you smile, laugh, cry, and rant. Ultimately, it will give you that warm fuzzy feeling that all good romances do and it will leave you smiling at the end of the day. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? The book needed more editing. Other than that, I loved it! Would I buy it again? Absolutely! Will I be reading more by this author? Most Definitely! Enjoy :)
