Although Robin always had aspired to become a great leader, he realized from his time at the United States Naval Academy and in the United States Marine Corps that leadership was much more than just telling people what to do: a great leader uses interpersonal skills to influence, rather than command, others. As a commander in charge of over 200 recruits and 16 drill instructors at Parris Island, South Carolina, Robin learned the fundamentals of leadership and influence. Upon entering service in the FBI in 1997, Robin began his journey as a behaviorist in the agency's efforts to thwart the effort of our country's adversaries. Throughout his life, Robin has received advanced training and experience in the area of social psychology and the practical application of the science behind relationship development. Robin's remarkable journey began as a 1992 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and former U. S. Marine Corps Officer. He has studied interpersonal relations for the past 27 years of his government service. Through observations of nonverbal behavior, use of the Personal Discernment Inventory, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and his own unique techniques, Robin has built highly effective tools for all aspects and stages of interpersonal communication. Robin has combined all these tools and techniques and created a one-of-a-kind formula for success with people. Today, Robin is a recognized expert, author, and gifted lecturer in the art of interpersonal communication. These skills are used every day in leadership, sales, human resources, and all relationships, both business and personal.

Also, I think one should be into the mood of trying things out.... at some point in the book I started wondering why on earth should I like to have all these strangers talking to me?!?!?! I understand it's my problem, that at the moment I need to improve my willingness to communicate. However the book gives good hints on how to improve communication... once you want to improve communication!!!
The book is well written, straightforward and the personal empowerment is assured.

I strongly recommend this book.
This book is different. From the very first chapter I realized I was not getting fluff, but instead insights. I don't like Amazon reviews that spill the beans, as if the reviewer can rip off all the key points of the author and that makes a good review. So I won't summarize those key points. But I've already recommended this book to several family members. It's a brilliant insight into the dynamics of those first few seconds when 10,000 generations of our intuition are being employed to determine good/bad, fight/flight.
I'm also impressed by the examples of how the author was put on the spot by others to prove if his methods work, and he describes what unfolded.
It's a short book and I was left wanting it not to end. In my book, that's another great indicator.
This information is not only useful in keeping relationships strong, but it's a great manual for salespeople...even though the author never mentions it. What's in this book is also useful if you want to meet someone to start a relationship.
The section on "Managing expectations" is particularly useful if you are in sales.
A very concise useful little manual here.
Some may reject the tool of excellent foot-in-the-door rapport-building because of how it could be used by the unscrupulous, but as you know, tools are just tools. How they're used depends entirely on the user.
If you're already a real charmer and you make quick rapport with people - then buy this book because you'll enjoy the fine tuning and war-stories.
If you're ever at a loss for words, or you wish you were like those "never met a stranger" types, then buy this book and see how you can avoid rejection, enjoy conversations, and be easily liked.
If you're wary of strangers and suspicious of others, then buy this book so as to recognize those who may be validating you for a purpose.
If you're not living alone in a cave somewhere off-grid, then you're someone who will find something useful in this book. There are principles to be extrapolated into various situations. It's a mini training manual on the quality control we should all exercise in our exchanges with others. Robin Dreeke nails it.
This small book is worth so much more than its small price. The COST of missing this good read could be great indeed. Don't miss it.
