Robin Leigh Morgan has enjoyed a long career writing commentaries and other nonfiction items, but since retiring Robin has devoted leisure time and acquired skills to the writing of the first of what will be many books. Robin’s debut novel is a Young Adult paranormal romance, complete with elements of time travel and the special first kiss in every girl’s life. Robin believes the blending of these different genres will be endearing to all those who read it, regardless of their age.

I Kissed a Ghost is a fun book for girls about growing up and making friends, being accepted by them and one's first kiss. Mary has to move from her friends and community when her father gets a new job. Moving to a new home is a difficult thing to do for a girl who had friends and was just getting to know a new boy. One day Mary gets an unexpected visit from a ghost, George, in her new house. He continues to visit her every day and they become fast friends. He helps her with her homework and with meeting new friends. Kids at school tease her about her house being haunted and refuse to come into her house to play. Instead they play in her play house in the yard.
Mary is happy to finally have some friends and feels that her life is getting better for her but suddenly her friends are talking behind her back about her and her supposedly haunted house. They have been teasing her all along about her house being haunted. What they don't know is that it really is haunted.
Something happens when Mary's friends suggest that she has a sleepover. They plan some sneaky things without Mary knowing what they plan to do. But George, the ghost helps Mary out.
Many things are going on at the same time but I don't want to spoil the fun of this entertaining read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though there were several editing issues.
I look forward to reading more from this creative author.
This is a story that compels you to continue to the next page. It is obviously intended for intelligent young ladies, but is so well scripted that even an old geezer like me could be emotionally stirred by its honest description of the birth of love and sexual feeling. The interludes of ghosts and dreams enhance this experience, and the only too realistic portrayals of preteen girlie conspiracies bring back real memories, if not my own, of those very close to me. This is a beautiful story, and I congratulate the author on her significant achievement.
"I Kissed a Ghost" is a novel of first love combined with a ghost story. It's positioned as YA, but it reads more for a younger audience, I'd say 4th-8th grade. Mary and her friends are just discovering that boys aren't quite as icky as they thought, and that kissing one might be fun. But soon after Mary's first tentative experience with having a boyfriend, her family moves and she's afraid she'll never find another boy like the one she left behind. Or will she?
There's a ghost living in her family's new house, and Mary soon finds herself living two lives - partly her modern-day life and partly the life of a girl in the early 20th century. She also struggles to find friends at her new school, and when she does they refuse to come to her house to play because, they say, the house is haunted. They think they're only teasing her; little do they know!
The style seems a little distant and formal; a lot of the story is told in narrative summary, where showing more of it through action would give it a more immediate feel and livelier pace.
Overall, though, "I Kissed a Ghost" is a tender and sweet story about a girl beginning to make the emotional adjustment from childhood to adolescence and about her ghost's surprisingly poignant mystery.

While reading this book I thought of my 5 year old granddaughter, and thinking how much fun she would have if as a young lady, she had the experience. This story of young friendship, young crushes, and exploring a past world, would be fun she'd never want to return from. I liked it.
