Sinossi

a Young Adult time travel adventure, set in Ireland and on the high seas – 'Narnia on a boat!'

Brother and sister Jik and Nora are bored and angry. Why does their Dad spend so much time since their mother’s death drinking and ignoring them? Why must he come home at all hours and fall downstairs like a fool?

Nora goes to church and lights a candle. The cross-looking sailor saint she particularly likes seems to grow enormous and come to life. Nora is too frightened to stay.

Nora and Jik go down secretly to their father’s boat, the Lady Molly, at Howth Marina. There they meet The Snapper, the same cross-looking saint in a sailor’s cap, who takes them back in time on the yacht, Lady Molly, to meet Cuchulain, the legendary Irish warrior, and others.

Jik and Nora plan to use their travels to find some way of stopping their father from drinking – but it’s fun, too!

Or is it? When they meet the Druid priest who follows them into modern times, teams up with school bully Marty Flanagan, and threatens them, things start getting out of hand.

Meanwhile, Nora is more than interested in Sean, the boy they keep bumping into in the past …

This Young Adult time travel adventure takes Nora and Jik back to several periods in Irish history, visiting the warrior Cuchulainn, the pirate Grainne, the days of St. Patrick in early Christian Ireland and an Irish famine ship – interlinked with modern teenage life and romance in the busy Irish capital, Dublin.

It deals with themes of neglect, alcohol abuse, bullying and the death of a parent/spouse. The children also learn several important lessons as they go about their adventure.

From the award-winning, best-selling author of Belfast Girls and Johnny McClintock's War

L'autore

Gerry McCullough has been writing poems and stories since childhood. Brought up in north Belfast, she graduated in English and Philosophy from Queen's University, Belfast, then went on to gain an MA in English. She lives just outside Belfast, in Northern Ireland, has four grown up children and is married to author, media producer and broadcaster, Raymond McCullough, with whom she co-edited the Irish magazine, 'Bread', (published by Kingdom Come Trust), from 1990-96. In 1995 they published a non-fiction book called, 'Ireland - now the good news!' Over the past few years Gerry has had around sixty short stories published in UK, Irish and American magazines, anthologies and annuals - as well as broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster. Her poems and articles have been published in several Northern Ireland and UK magazines, and she has also done readings from her novels, poems and short stories at several Irish literary events. She writes a regular literary blog - Gerry's Books - and guest writes for several other literary blogs. Gerry won the Cúirt International Literary Award for 2005 (Galway); was shortlisted for the 2008 Brian Moore Award (Belfast); shortlisted for the 2009 Cúirt Award; and commended in the 2009 Seán O'Faolain Short Story Competition, (Cork). She is now also an Amazon best-selling novellist. Her first full-length Irish novel - 'Belfast Girls,' a thriller/romance (originally published by Night Publishing, UK, in November 2010) was re-published by Precious Oil Publications in June, 2012; and a second thriller/romance novel, 'Danger, Danger,' was published by Precious Oil in October, 2011. Her third full-length novel, Angel in Flight: an Angel Murphy thriller, was released by Precious Oil in June 2012. Her first collection of Irish short stories - 'The Seanachie: Tales of Old Seamus', previously published in an Irish weekly magazine - was published by Precious Oil in January, 2012. 'Lady Molly & The Snapper' is the latest arrival - a young adult time travel adventure, set in Ireland and on the high seas – published August, 2012. The Cúirt Award-winning story, 'Primroses,' and the Seán O'Faolain commended story, 'Giving Up,' have been extended and re-written as part of a series of seven more serious Irish short stories - to be published later in 2012, with another of these stories, 'Dark Night', being extended into a coming, full-length historical novel. Also coming soon is, 'Not the End of the World' a comic, futuristic, adult fantasy novel.
