Sinossi

In this sequel to "Karneval in Köln", Dino is making his way into the heart of Munich, capital of the Free State of Bavaria and home of the world-famous Oktoberfest. Bewildered by the Bavarian dialect and trying to get his head around local cuisine and customs, he finally lands a steady new job in a legendary location. But it's only so long before a new acquaintance and the world's largest funfair catapult him out of his everyday routine.

Explore the wonders of Munich in the autumn, learn about local sights and sounds, and improve your German effortlessly along the way!

This book is designed to help beginners make the leap from studying isolated words and phrases to reading (and enjoying) naturally flowing German texts.

Using simplified sentence structures and a very basic vocabulary, this collection of short stories is carefully crafted to allow even novice learners to appreciate and understand the intricacies of coherent German speech.
Each chapter comes with a complete German-English dictionary, with a special emphasis on collocative phrases (high frequency word combinations), short sentences and expressions.

By working with these “building blocks” instead of just single words, learners can accelerate their understanding and active usage of new material and make the learning process more fluid and fun.

Divertente e piacevole da leggere anche per chi come me non ha una buona padronanza della lingua. Situazioni descritte interessanti anche dal punto di vista culturale

5.0 su 5 stelle Dino heads for the Octoberfest! 20 novembre 2014
Di pjf - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Fourth in a series of intermediate German readers that begins with Cafe in Berlin, in this episode Dino, the Sicilian working his way through Germany and trying to learn the language well enough to get a good job, finds himself working in the Bavaria Filmstudios in Munich, experiencing the Octoberfest and trying to meet up with girls. Between putzing U-boats and navigating through beer tents, he finds romance and experiences the food, festival and fairgrounds of the Octoberfest. But can he keep a job this time? Can he find love? Can he further his knowledge of German amid the intricacies of the Bavarian dialect? You'll enjoy reading the ten short chapters, complete with quizzes and glossary, to find out.

Andre Klein also has great beginning German readers (Peter und das Huhn, Fred der Fisch, etc) and a multiple volume series of advanced German crimi (detective stories) beginning with Mord am Morgen. All are great fun stories that are head and shoulders above any other German readers available.

(Note, for German language learners who are looking for some fun movies in addition to Andre Klein's great books, try the Sissi Collection (German with English subtitles), which plays during Xmas season in Germany as a sort of German Cinderella. For crimi fans,I love Inspector Rex (also known as Kommissar Rex). This Austrian crime drama was premier in Europe and Australia (very popular down under) for a decade and more. The Australian DVDS have English subtitles. Also its spinoff Stockinger, which stars a Columbo like detective, is set in gorgeous Salzberg. Again the Australian version of this series has English subtitles. Be sure to check region codes before purchasing. If you have movie or book recommends, please note them in comments! German can be a tough language to learn, so we need all the resource recommendations we can get. )

What lovely, charming books these are. Not too easy, not too hard, they provide a distinct thrill when you’re able to read a paragraph at a time without looking in the dictionary for help. Just perfect for the beginner German student, or any lover of languages.

Enough with the stupid check boxes Amazon. This is a book for learning German, no more, no less. Excellent beginner tutorials for German. The whole series is great. Two are available as audiobooks so you can work on your pronunciation, but these books are geared toward vocabulary and a little grammar.

Great series! As a novice German learner these books have been extremely helpful. I just finished the fourth book. I am reading them over and over and I'm learning faster this way than with any other method I have tried. I'm still using grammar books and flashcards and podcasts, but this is by far my favorite way to study. Nice job Andre!

I have been working on learning German for well over a year and spent 9 months there. I want to go back! That being said, I have run into the usual problem of so many people speak some English, better than my German. So it is not so easy to actually practice speaking. These books are fun! The conversations are fairly simple, they are amusing and my vocabulary is getting better. Thanks for writing them!
