Ailis is a homicide detective who has spent her life pretending she is "normal". Because of this, she knows the serial murders her unit is investigating aren't being committed by a human. In walks the most gorgeous man she's ever seen. What’s wrong with that? Ailis not only knows he's a vampire; she also knows he's the one draining child molesters and murderers, leaving an empty carcass for her to find. Her investigation into his past unearths secrets about her ancestors that take her back to Camelot and the time of Merlin so she can right a wrong committed by her family hundreds of years ago. Can she trust this strange, lonely vampire to help her solve a mystery that could very well end up with her being life challenged herself?

Kenneth has been around long enough to know there is no such thing as a coincidence. So the moment he meets the undeniably strong willed homicide detective Ailis, he knows there's a good explanation as to why she looks identical to his long dead fiance. He just has to figure out what that is. When his one-hundred year nemesis shows up in Miami and tries to force Ailis to join him, Kenneth realizes her powers are worth something to even the worst of his kind. He pledges to protect her as long as he is still breathing and if those trying to keep her from fulfilling her destiny have any say in the matter; that won’t be long at all.

Nicole Hill was born and raised in a very small town and with not much else to do, she turned to reading. Nicole loved the escape that she found in the pages of the stories that she read. At around the age of twelve Nicole started to write down some of her own to read to her brother and sister before bed. Around the same time, she became very interested in the tales of King Arthur and Morgan Le Fay. Nicole loved the way magic was so alive in the legends. She always lost herself entirely in the world of Merlin but always hated the way the legends ended. She was always left wondering why they were never given a chance to redeem themselves. So Five years ago, when Nicole was working at a call center and had loads of time between calls, she decided she wanted to finish their story. Her way. So here she is. Legacy Forgotten is the first in the Avalon Legacies. Nicole's way of fixing what she considered to be a great injustice. She hopes you enjoy their world as much as she has. 2.0 su 5 stelle Hard to get past the lack of editing on this one. 3 ottobre 2013

I downloaded this book months ago from Amazon and just got around to reading it. If it was re-edited during that time, then Amazon should have uploaded the new version for me since then. If they didn't, and the author isn't aware of it, then I apologize for my review in advance.

I understand that this is a debut novel for an Indie author. What I can't understand is how a book can have this many errors and editing issues on virtually every page. Wrong capitals, wrong words, wrong quotes, wrong plurals, wrong grammar--just... wrong. And choppy, stilted sentence structure didn't help the flow at all. I have a bad habit of highlighting errors as I come across them while reading on my Kindle. I soon got too overworked to continue. If I'd been using a pen, it would have run out of ink.

The idea for the storyline was interesting, though the King Arthur/Merlin aspect was a little muddy; I assume that the world of Avalon will be addressed further in the sequel. The characters were well developed, although their dialogue tended to be awkward and juvenile. The plot's action was good, but then was ruined for me towards the end when the Evil Bad Guy did a sudden 360 and all his previous transgressions were forgiven. The romance isn't bad, but was a little clumsy at times. The story is reasonably resolved at the end, leaving things open for a sequel.

The idea for the book was good (and enthusiastic), but the writing, execution, and editing was poor. Shows promise, but needs major work. Sorry.

3.0 su 5 stelle Good read! 2 agosto 2013

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

So, how do I start? Well, I liked the story, I thought it was a good read, the plot was pretty interesting and there was some action in it. At times I felt like it was just a bit all over the place. It took me a while to read this book, I can normally finish in a day or two, but this one took me almost two weeks. It's because the first half is really unnecessary. It starts out as a murder mystery with cops and a vamp but then turns into something different (which is the better part of the book). It doesn't really give you a enough background of the characters and story, we don't find out everything until halfway into the book. Once I got there I finished it in no time. I feel as though as a first book in a series it should have been laid out better and more detailed in the beginning. We're introduced to Kenneth, who is a total arrogant a** . Ailis is pretty cool, she is a detective who knows she's a little more than the average human, but is introduced to a whole new world once she truly acknowledges that she is different and goes back to her roots.

Like I said, the story is pretty good, and I'd like to read the next book so I can see how the legacies continue.

3.0 su 5 stelle Good but.... 10 giugno 2013

The book seemed to have parts where they aren't really clear. When I read it, I felt like I kind of had to read in between the lines to be able to have a clear understatement of what was going on or what happen or will happen. The books also had alot of errors even though it was re-edited. You could tell because of the red markings for the kindle edition. I feel like this book needs to go through another peer review for the spelling errors and quotations errors that I found within the book. Action seemed to takeover the book rather than romance and a love story in a way which I don't mind because the storyline was really interesting desire the fact that I didn't really understand it at times. There was little intimate scenes which I don't mind either which thankfully did not contain and BDSM. This was also written in third person which i personally love more than a first person writing. I hope that this review has helped you even though it was pretty long.

5.0 su 5 stelle A Pleasant Surprise 16 giugno 2012

As someone who thinks that the vampire craze has gone on a bit too long, I'll admit I was hesitant to pick up yet another book about two-legged leeches. Heck, I suffered through the first 2.5 books of the Twilight series before sanity forced me to turn back, and I swore no more for awhile. You can only take so much sparkling.

So I went into Legacy Forgotten with a cynical eye, planning on tossing it the moment something that was undead started to sparkle in the sunlight. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Though there were a few grammatical errors, it didn't take away from the story, which did the exact thing a story was supposed to do: entertain! It did that quite well, and I really had a lot of fun reading it. Nicole definitely has a passion for bipedal bloodsuckers, and it shows. Considering it was set in Miami, a place I spent quite a bit of my youth, I knew most of the places she described, and it was just enjoyable for once to dive into the world of a vampire. If you want a fun story, and don't get too squeamish, this is a story for you.

Different, strange, unique, weird. As an author and journalist, I don't think there are words to describe my reaction, seriously. Check that: A must read for adults! Sorry, the sex scenes knocks it out of the under 18 range. You may get that "(groan), here we go again..." reaction. Trust me, read past it. Definitely different and unique!
