5.0 su 5 stelle It's about the journey... 22 dicembre 2010
Di RunsWithScissors - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I sat down to read this book thinking I would just start it, but could not put it down! I read the entire book in one sitting. When I was done, I felt that I had traveled around the world with Ian, and was better for it. I cheered with him, cried with him, and relived the joy of healing from a broken heart. I was inspired. The book is framed around Ian's goals, but really it's about so much more. The very thing that catapulted Ian into action worldwide is what brought him such joy in the end, with a hell of a journey along the way.

The writing flows well, is accessible and enjoyable with just enough detail. I felt I was along for the ride, and was welcomed to join in the fun, just as Ian so freely shared his goals with so many others. The goals are interesting and enjoyable, and the people Ian meets are just as much fun as the goals. I felt I shared parts of my bucket list with Ian, and although he beat me to it, his accounts invite me to feel heroic and relaxed enough to follow. (Except, I'll never run with the bulls!) There are lots of good travel tips. The book reads in parts like a helpful TripTik, and is very informative about details that matter.

The book reminds us that life is not as much about the destination as it is about the journey, that we are all more alike than different, and that anything done with good intentions and an open heart can't be wrong. Oh, and there's a very happy ending. Expect tears again. It's a good thing.

5.0 su 5 stelle Ees Possible!! 8 dicembre 2010
Di Colorado Triman - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

It's really neat to read a true success story about an average guy who accomplishes extraordinary things by thinking outside the box, taking a few risks, and choosing prosperity in the face of adversity. I was first intrigued by Ian's story when "A life for Sale" was a prominent story on Yahoo News. His circumstances were similar to many but what he chose to do took some guts and seemed a bit inspirational. I had the opportunity to meet this guy and participate in a few of his goals - he is a genuine good guy with an amazing "can do" attitude. That attitude combined with his willingness to try just about anything makes for some interesting reading. He kind of brings out the kid in all of us that is just open minded and up for the next adventure. A pleasurable read that helps us all recognize what "Ees Possible"

5.0 su 5 stelle One of the best travel books out there! 13 agosto 2012
Di JasonB - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

I've read nothing but travel books for the past year, about 20+ in all, and I consider this to be one of the very best of the bunch.

Initially, I was skeptical about a travel book with a central premise of "checklisting" - to tick off a bunch of items on your bucket list just to say you've done it. One of the risks is how superficial it can be, without delving deeper into the experience of it. This can make the audience feel short-changed, as if watching from the outside in and not being a part of the adventure. "Hey look! I did this! So awesome! Next!" But not this book. Not Ian Usher. He wants you to be inside his mind, he wants to share all of his reactions and emotional ups and downs with you as he goes through each event, which makes this book one of my top 3 "must-recommend" books to travel buddies.

Ian absolutely bears his soul to the reader in his book. He seems like a genuinely nice guy that you want to have a pint of beer with, and you want to root for him while he sorts out his life after having gone through a very painful divorce. He took up traveling, 100 goals in 100 weeks, as a way of re-discovering himself, and that's what this book's about. He did a masterful job of sharing just the right amount of details of each of his goals accomplished, enough to make you feel as if you're part of the experience, but just condensed enough to keep the page count to a decent 376 pages while pulling you along.

Ian's youthful enthusiasm for traveling is very endearing to the reader. He has no ego at all, just a genuinely humble guy who seems to be amazed by turns of good fortune and the goodness of strangers who came out to help him along his many goals. Somewhere along his journey, he began to embrace his 100 goals as just a framework for traveling; a mean of meeting strangers and enjoying new experience with friends in diverse places, rather than merely checklisting. And that's absolutely what traveling's supposed to be about.

Kudos, Ian Usher. I cannot emphasize enough what an excellent, well-written travel book this is, and I hope to meet you some day.

5.0 su 5 stelle SO MOVING AND INSPIRING! 13 aprile 2013
Di Larks - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Formato Kindle Acquisto verificato
Reading this book was such a moving experience (no pun intended!). Ian Usher's willingness to unflinchingly open his life and inner being to readers, his courage and persistence in undertaking and completing his journey, and the way he wove a quest for love into a quest for travel and excitement really set this book apart. But perhaps the most moving facet is the help and generosity he received along the way from countless people willing to act as agents in granting him his wishes. Mr. Usher's story proves that when you are about to undertake something which is in accordance with the will of the universe, the universe will provide you with all the help you need. A marvelously inspiring story!

5.0 su 5 stelle Inspirational Story about Living Your Dreams 18 gennaio 2011
Di Yvette Francino - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Copertina flessibile Acquisto verificato
I became intrigued with Ian and his story just before he attempted to "sell his life" on eBay and followed his adventures through his blog. We had the opportunity to meet in 2008 and Ian became "Mr. November in my book:The Laptop Dancer Diaries: A Mostly True Story About Finding Love Again

I have been waiting anxiously for the story behind the story, and Ian did not disappoint. In this honest memoir, Ian reveals the amazing and true story of fulfilling a bucket-list of goals -- something most of us talk about, but don't actually do. But Ian also reveals the emotions and balance between connecting with people and moving on to experience new adventures... the loneliness from losing past relationships and the excitement from finding new ones.

This is a story that inspires us all to live and love fully... Get it!
