Most people wouldn't expect a pair of $20 headphones that claim to be noise Isolating and made for working out to have good sound or quality but in the case of this pair of headphones, it does that and much more. Not only do you get an additional case for the headphones, but also 6 sets of interchangeable eartips so you can get the best fit (I found that the ones that came on the earphones worked the best for me).
The noise-isolating feature: When I first put them on, I couldn't believe how well they isolated sound. I couldn't hear any backround noises (cars, microwave, etc.) and when I turned on my music, I couldn't hear a person talking right in front of me.
The fit: When I tried working out and running with them, I didn't have any trouble. They stayed snuggly in my ear the whole time and I could hear the music clearly the whole time. The "memory wire" also works great. It took me about 10 seconds to figure out how to fit it to my ear and then I was good.
The sound quality: Finally, the thing everyone wants to know about. Does the low price of these headphones take away sound quality? The answer to this is definitely no. I'm not a headphone/sound enthusiast but I can still tell that these have good sound. When compared to the old Apple ear pods, these sound amazing. If I could say anything about the way these sound, it would be that the base is very prominent (but not overpowered, so you can still listen to classical-type music).
A few things I wanted to know before I bought this:
-Does the clear color get dirty/rusty? No, atleast they haven't yet in the month that I've been using them (and they look pretty in general as a color)
-How long is the cord? About 4 1/2"--I find that it's a bit too long when you run, but you can easily fix this by either stuffing the excess cord into your pocket or using the handy clip of them to hold extra cord.
-Do they get tangled easily? No! These are the first headphones I've had that don't. It's probably because the cord is a bit stiffer than most
Thanks for taking the time to read this review. I hope it helped and answered any questions you had. Look at the pictures I took for more help--I put the headphones next to a sharpie marker for comparison in size.
In March of 2016 one of the ears failed and the other became very static-filled.
However, I thought, perhaps it was a fluke and I just got a bad pair. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt instead of activating the warranty (and dealing with that) as they functioned well before that.
So, on March 22nd, 2016 I purchased ANOTHER one of these on Amazon.
A few days ago, this second pair died in the same fashion!
Perhaps it was time to contact customer service and point out the qualitative function issues?
I'm here to warn you, MEE Audio's customer service is lacking...
Brad from their customer service support team got back to me.
He could clearly see I am a faithful customer, however, when pointing out this is my second failed purchase, he told me I could:
a). "Use their out-of-warranty replacement program that costs a flat $15.33 plus shipping" (costing more than the initial purchase lol)
b). "Alternatively, take part in their warranty upgrade program if I would like to move from the M6P to a higher-end model at a reduced cost" (can't see doing that if they have such commendable customer service nor are willing to stand behind their products after multiple purchases).
I can pretty much attest that this pair of in-ear headphones will not last you past one year.
I only use it every other day for 30 minutes, in pretty much a perfect environment for electronics.
MEE Audio's quality product over time, combined with their acclaimed customer service is something I will avoid in the future.
I was waffling between 3 and 4 stars, but because of the need to use two hands to untangle the wires and place the buds over/behind my ears they're not as user friendly as some of the other buds. My Kipsch buds don't have a microphone, so I don't use them except to listen to music. Their easy to insert and remove and they remain in place good. The Ultimate Ears has a mic, insert remove with one hand, but they don't remain in my ear very well. These M6P's remain stable and secure, sound great, fit great - the wires easily tangle. I wonder if their more expensive buds are more flexible. If they are - they might be worth the extra money. If you plan on keeping these buds on for hours at a time, these work great. If you insert then remove, then insert these buds numerous times a day, these will be a hassle. Or if you have strenuous work outs, where other buds come loose - these will also work great.
Update-later the same day. After wearing these at work I've learned (for the most part) to put on and take these ear buds off with one hand. The sound quality is continuing to impress me. Great bass response and smooth highs. Hearing sounds and nuances of music and instruments I have not heard before. I listen primarily to Pandora's Smooth Jazz. I hear the snapping of fingers on some songs I haven't heard before. The vibration and rattle of some bass strings. Nice. If I didn't have to communicate with people I work with, I would leave these in all day. A song that really makes the buds stand out is "Rapture At Sea", by Eastern Sun. Check it out. Cool.
Now let get to the audio quality, and i gotta say it is terrible! base keeps coming on and off, and bass is very minimum, another thing is that the sound sounds like the music is being played in a tin-can, very cheap sound and my right earphone was louder than my left as well, kinda odd, another thing is that when i have tried to use it to call someone, i could not hear or understand the other person on the other line at all! The sound coming from the other person sounded like buzzing-vocal something sound, kind of like the radios AM channels, whenever you click from one station to another and some stations reception is really bad and they have that buzzing sound and words cant even be understood, well this is how this sounded! overall the quality of these earphones is really poor! worst i have ever tried and not worth $26! Sending them back!!!!
