A rock-and-roll love triangle…a music journalist’s story of a lifetime…the bad boy front man who broke her heart.

Tru Bennett was just fourteen years old when her best friend and first love, Jake Wethers, moved from England to America and left her brokenhearted. Now twelve years later, Jake is the world’s biggest rock star, lead singer of The Mighty Storm and every woman’s bad-boy fantasy. Every woman, that is, except Tru.

A successful music journalist, Tru knows better than to mix business with pleasure. But then she receives the assignment of a lifetime: interview Jake before his band launches its highly anticipated world tour. Tru vows to keep the meeting strictly professional—but nothing can prepare her for the sparks that fly the moment their eyes meet again.

Now Jake wants Tru to join the band on tour, offering her a behind-the-scenes exclusive that any journalist would kill for. There’s just one problem: Tru’s boyfriend, Will. Can their relationship withstand Tru hitting the road with rock and roll’s most notorious womanizer? Or will she risk it all for a second chance with the one who got away?

Revised edition: This edition of The Mighty Storm includes editorial revisions.

Samantha Towle began her first novel in 2008 while on maternity leave. She completed the manuscript five months later and hasn’t stopped writing since. In addition to The Mighty Storm, she is the author of The Bringer and the Alexandra Jones series, all penned to tunes of The Killers, Kings of Leon, Adele, The Doors, Oasis, Fleetwood Mac, and more of her favorite musicians. A native of Hull and a graduate of Salford University, she lives with her husband, Craig, in East Yorkshire with their son and daughter.

The novel overall I liked it and so, for me, is promoted. Two best friends who are reunited after years and it seems that their feelings are never changed, although there is the passage from adolescence to adulthood (or almost).
This love unchanged over time, a decade later, with the changes that life imposes, it did not appear likely, but apart from this personal opinion, history has been able to catch me. The main character, Tru, I have not appreciated, it seemed false and inconsistent, while he, Jake, has the charm of the beautiful and damned, self-confident, possessive, but falls in infantile attitudes that make him lose charisma. Love passes for friendship, lies towards those who do not deserve it, jealousies and resentments, frame the story of Tru and Jake. The plot is predictable, but not tired.
The writing style of Towle is always smooth and colorful, the novel reads quickly and is overwhelmed. Sex is not lacking, nothing too vulgar, perhaps repetitive but it did not bother me. I recommend it, it is an enjoyable read.

5.0 su 5 stelle GOOD STORY EXCEPT ........... 5 gennaio 2014

This story of Jake and Tru was so good. Even though Tru was slightly immature to be twenty six and her not believing what his life would be like when she works in the business made me want to slap her at times. I also wish she had broken up with Will before she did. Not wanting to tell him over the phone. seemed to me as if she was playing both ends against the middle. At times I wanted Jake to find someone more like he deserved, not such a spoiled botch. Maybe because I am older and been through so much in my lifetime that I can see that all the petty drama just isn't worth the hurt. One time and you should decide it's either worth the love or its not. All of that said and I would recommend this book to anyone and I will go and start the next story of their life and hope Tru has grown up some.

1.0 su 5 stelle Boringly Drawn! 17 ottobre 2016

This is the 2nd bad book I've read from this author though this one was worse than the other one.

This story dealt with some major life issues but it was so poorly done.
Boy meets girl who is broken from domestic abuse by her father and then her boyfriend. Within all of 10days they're madly in love and waxing poetry.

The most annoying style of the book is to give readers two perspectives on everything happening which made for an extremely boring read! This style ensured every detail of their dialogue was drawn out, every emotion dissected and explored - wanderings, musings, why and why nots were painstakingly explained! As such simple discussions n scenes that should engage us left us annoyed because we were screaming move on already. I started skipping pages and realised the conversation didn't miss abit.

This was a terribly long tale of a merely two week period so the end was rushed, many aspects of the H and h lives were left undeveloped. There were barely there secondary characters so every narrative was about the H and h making the scenes boring; a few thrown in secondary scenes involving others felt fake and plastic add ones that didn't really improve the book.

I don't recommend too wordy and unrealistic.

This is one of those books that I think I'll read over again. I felt every single emotion right along with Tru. My heart ached for her in moments. A lot of moments actually.

I have to say that although Jake had some issues with his past that it was refreshing to me that Tru didn't and because of that she was a strong leading lady. Even though she makes some mistakes, some pretty big ones...I couldn't help holding out hope that she SOON would figure things out.

I loved Jake. Even with all that he brings along with him. I loved how much he missed Tru. How he was just as nervous to see her, if it even was her! I liked that they were both feeling the same things and because they'd known each other so well they could kind of piece things together.

I love that Tru goes on tour! How freaking cool would that be?!? I loved how awesome of friends Simone and Vicky are! Again!! How awesome!

Just a great book. Highly recommend.
5.0 su 5 stelle One of the best books I've ever read 23 febbraio 2015

Such an awesome read. This is the first book I read by Samantha Towle and I loved it so much. The story was heartbreaking and I had tears in my eyes most of the time. It just felt so real. Both characters had real life problems and probably suffer through things that most young people have to go through to a certain extent. That made the story and the characters feel close to me.

I usually don't start my reviews with the female character but this time I just feel the need to do it. Mia is one of the most interesting characters I've ever encountered in a book. The hell she lived in as a child and teenager, nearly broke her and once she thought she was free she only ended up in a similar situation. I admired her strength when she finally managed to escape and it was fascinating to see how she builds herself again from the bottom. And when she is nearly healed, she is knocked down again. I think that's the moment her inner strength shows the most. It is true that it is completely in the end of the book but I admired her for the way she stood up again and started the healing she so desperately needed. A big part of her growing up as a person is her relationship with Jordan. He shows her that life could be different and there is something beautiful waiting for her in the end.

Jordan has scars of his own. And even though looks like quite the bad boy with his tattoos, attitude and string of women, he is quite broken on the inside. His demons torture him and make him feel unworthy of anything good in his life. The thing that shows him different, is his relationship with Mia. They help each other heal and ultimately find something none of them expected. Their HEA.

I have to say that that's one of the most heartbreaking stories I've ever read. Both characters are amazingly well developed and their stories deserve to be read. If you haven't read this book yet, I have to say that you are missing a lot. I definitely recommend it and I hope you will consider #one clicking the book because in my opinion this is a must read.

5.0 su 5 stelle abuse, love, and drama 9 dicembre 2013

I loved how this story touched based on a serious problem that not many people are willing to discuss...abuse. Whether it be physical, mental, or this case physical and emotional. Mia had only ever known abuse. It was what she was used to. Thinking her mother died in a car accident when she was just a baby; she had to endure a life of constant beatings by the only parent she ever knew. When he died, she was relieved, but only for a short amount of time. She met a boy who was just like her father. She wanted to break the cycle and finally found the courage to run away from Forbes. She meets Jordan and she knows she shouldn't be attracted to him, but she seems drawn to him. And him to her. Mia is trying to find a life she thought would never exist...her birth mother...who gave her up. She ends up falling for Jordan, but then he drops the biggest bomb possible.

I definitely loved this story and all the romance and drama. I was drawn to the characters and their chemistry together. I laughed at times, got angry, and cried my eyes out. I would definitely recommend reading this book. Look forward to other books by this author.
