5.0 su 5 stelle Moon full of poetry... 24 ottobre 2016
Di Clifton - Pubblicato su
Formato: Formato Kindle
I'm holding in my hand something new that feels old. You might have found it in an airport in 1962 or a bookstore in 1955. It's easy to imagine Don Draper gifting it to someone, but it's from 2015; the poems themselves offer no clues to orient the reader in time and often feel very 20th century in origin.
Moon Full of Moons by Kat Lehmann holds echoes of the confessional poetry of Plath or Sexton and a lot of the magic of cummings. She writes breathless love poems to her children and the moon, rivers and trees. The cycle of moon phases is a recurrent theme, almost to the point of being a narrative but this is poetry and you are welcomed into, rather than pulled along by, a growing knowledge of what she's up to here.
She's unfolding a path to recovery from loss of her beloved mother. She's reveling in every moment of discovery her children make in their path to adulthood and independence. She's creating something as beautiful and perfect as anything Plath or even Yeats might have given us.
5.0 su 5 stelle A lovely collection of poems focused around the phases of life and the moon. 18 marzo 2016
Di Mary Kendall - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
“Moon Full of Moons: Poetry of Transformation” by Kat Lehmann is a collection of poems focused around the stages of life told through the metaphor of phases of the moon. From childhood with its happiness, newness and light, the poems progress through youth, adulthood and its inevitable challenges and pain. Having reached the new moon with its accompanying emotional darkness and emptiness, life continues full circle to a gradual regaining of life and light through experiences and revelations. The book ends with the second full moon, a complete circle for both the moon and for us. There is always hope and something to be learned and gained as we experience the joy and difficulties that life bestows. The poet’s gift for imagery is beautifully captured in one of the early poems, “Solomon Sleeps,” as a mother watches her young son drift off into his own dreams.

I feel the flutter of my fingertip-pulse
against the undulations of his breathing.

We are different tempos now,
like syncopation of an erratic jazz.
I press my ear to his chest to hear
his secret drumbeat.

We were one rhythm once,
now we are two.

5.0 su 5 stelle Poems Written By the Light of the Moon 7 aprile 2015
Di Rebecca of Amazon - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
Kat Lehmann is a poet who writes her poems by a river under the light of the moon. This book is instantly beautiful with creative ideas and childhood memories. You will enjoy reading about catching falling stars, ocean glass and how delicious a peach can be. Most of the poems are very positive. There is however one sad poem about being an only child and Kat Lehman expresses her eternal longing for a sibling. There are poems about the moon but also some about motherhood. One poem, "The Language of Beauty" is stunningly intimate for a poem. Kat Lehmann must be a dreamy wonderful person to write poems this magical.
