These stories trace the path that would lead Vance to the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.

The Moon Moth and Other Stories is Volume 31 of the Spatterlight Press Signature Series.Released in the centenary of the author's birth, this handsome new collectionis based upon the prestigious Vance Integral Edition. Select volumes enjoyup-to-date maps, and many are graced with freshly-written forewords contributedby a distinguished group of authors. Vance at his best I think. The main story (The Moon Moth) and I'm not giving a spoiler here, examines a social behaviour on a planet where the environment is extremely benevolent and gives Vance's ideas about how a society might behave in such circumstances. This is, as is common with Vance, not science fiction, except in so much as it's set on another planet of course, as a philosophical and social study. Fascinating what he comes up with and great characters as usual!

A couple of good Magnus Ridolph short stories then an eclectic mix of Vance stories. Well worth a read for Vance fans or would-be Vance fans. The Moon Moth itself was quirky with a good twist.
