5.0 su 5 stelle Wonderful music! 11 settembre 2015
Di Hilco - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Audio CD Acquisto verificato
This music truly caught me off guard. I love all kinds of music and when I viewed the cover on Amazon, I decided to take my chances. I am so glad I did. For those who find the music of Tim Janis a bit to schmaltzy, but want classical flavor over rock for just the right mood, this is your CD. Each track is distinctly different and I can hear just a bar and know which I am listening too. The album flows very well as a whole, but never bores me. The violin performance is skilled and emotive while all supporting accompaniments and melodies are given their chance to shine. This is very balanced music while commanding attention. You won't mistake it for Mozart, but the classical roots are apparent. I wish Lucia Micarelli has more albums similar to this. I have not yet heard her rock performances.

5.0 su 5 stelle The Greatest Performer Of Our Time 11 giugno 2015
Di Ronald Cannarella - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Music From A Farther Room is Lucia Micarelli at her best. Call it 'crossover", love it or leave it; Ms. Mucarelli is, in my opinion, one of the most outstanding musicians born in my lifetime, and I was born in 1958. I have studied, played, sang, danced, purchased and promoted virtually every genre of music I have been exposed to, from classical to circuit music, deep house to square dancing, accordion to zephyr. I know and love music, so when someone or something catches my ear, I look it up. I am astonished by Ms. Micarelli's talent as a violinist, as an actor, as a performer, and as an innovator. I "discovered" her only recently, in her role as Annie Talarico on the HBO series "Treme" when HBO become available on Apple TV. I have been so impressed by Treme that I looked up all of the actors to see which ones actually played their instruments. The part that they wrote for Lucia Micarelli's character is virtually her biography. (And Treme is a screenplay and brilliant production that highlights the music, culture, food and tragedy of post-Katrina New Orleans that is based on Spike Lee's documentary "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts" - 1966.) Lucia plays the role of a young classically trained violinist from New York who moves to New Orleans with her boyfriend so that she can expand her musical repertoire. She starts out as a naive, bohemian street busker who is exposed to Cajun music (Zydeco), Jazz, and New Orleans' unique form of Jazz. Along the way, she learns how to sing, and (spoiler alert) her character is eventually discovered by a producer, and from there her career takes off. After researching all of the characters, her Wikipedia page lead me here to amazon.com where I purchased all of the music from Treme as well as Ms. Micarelli's own recordings, including this one. A few clicks later and I found that she was on tour and coming to my neighborhood this summer (2015) with Chris Botti (another amazing artist - trumpet), and doing one gig with her Treme band this summer in Park City, Utah. I am thrilled to be seeing her live on tour and with her own band in a few months. Then, through her website and You Tube videos I found links to her work with Josh Grobin, and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull). Anyone who can play a Ravel String Quartet and also knock it out of the park on Led Zeppelin's "Kashmire" (look it up kids), who stands out as one of the most memorable actors on Treme, oh, and rocks it with Josh Grobin . . . I am at a loss for words. But what prompted me to write this review (my first) was when I read her biography and learned that she played with the Honolulu Symphony when she was 7 years old. That was the year I moved to Honolulu. I went to that concert because the soloist was a promising local protege and I hadn't yet been to the symphony. Until now, I had forgotten her name, but I joined the Honolulu Symphony Chorus shortly thereafter because I was so impressed (and sang with them for 15 years). I knew then that the young violinist would go on to do great things. And she certainly did. This recording is a musical sampler. Every track is different from the rest, both in style and substance. So people who are expecting a one-trick-pony may not like all of the tracks. But that is Ms. Micarelli's hallmark. Label her "Crossover" if you like. She is that, and more. On this CD, she doesn't sing, play acid rock, or read poetry or play one tenth of her repertoire. But her virtuosity, her flawless execution and her choice of tracks are what makes her a superstar, as young as she is. I wish her a long and productive career. Lucky us. I love this CD; and check out her Treme tracks as well!

5.0 su 5 stelle A Soft, Relaxing Blend of Passionate Melodies 8 giugno 2014
Di Dynamic Wizard - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

The harmonious and tranquil sounds radiating from this fabulous and memorable violin collection by Lucia Micarelli (Portrait, Track # 4) is the other side of the coin from, David Garrett's, Rock Symphonies.

Music From A Farther Room, is an elegant selection of hypnotizing and mesmerizing songs from the soul.

One can visualize a monarch butterfly (To Love You More, Track # 5) fluttering around a rainbow array of flowers.

Sweet and Innocent.

I love the music on this CD. There are many excellent tracks on the CD. Its just an excellent CD all the way around.

I only wosh that she had done more music. I have gone back to Chris Botti's live in Boston CD for more of her music.

She is excellent.

5.0 su 5 stelle Possibly the most beautiful instrumental album I have ever heard! 12 dicembre 2012
Di Beatles Forever - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

One of the downsides of living in Anchorage, Alaska is that many artists choose not to make the long journey and share their talent with us. One artist who does is Chris Botti. He has traveled up here twice within the last five years.
When he was here in 2009, he announced that a special guest would be joining him on the stage after flying all the way across the country from Miami to Anchorage ( I have done this flight myself and have the deepest respect for an artist that would do such an exhausting flight and then go out and perform ). Needless to say, his guest was Lucia Micarelli who came onstage as described many times: barefoot and in a simple sleeveless dress.
They proceeded to play several duets; Emmanuel and Cinema Paradiso among them. I was absolutely stunned to hear the beauty of Ms. Micarelli's playing; she has got to be one of the finest violinists in the world. Immediately after the concert, I did an Amazon search and found "Music from a Farther Room". I ordered it and have probably listened to it a thousand times since then.
What I am trying to convey in this review ( and not very successfully I fear ) is the absolutely transcendent beauty of the music on this CD. Every track stands on its own as a classic but it is the cumulative effect of the CD that will blow you away. The single vocal tack, "She is like a Swallow" is lovely and haunting.
This is a CD that needs to be enjoyed with the lights out and a fire going. Adult beverages are optional.
My only question/complaint is why haven't more CDs been recorded since this came out in 2004? There are so many long, dark nights in Alaska and I wiould love to have more of her music to accompany them.
