Sinossi

The Tipping Point: A Wainwright Mystery is a suspense novel set in 1978. Garth Wainwright is one of the ten business partners of CapVest, a successful national real estate investment firm. Wainwright is invited to join one of those partners, Tom Burke, and his wife for a skiing holiday in Aspen. His invitation came from Lacey Kinkaid, Burke’s lawyer and Wainwrights new love interest. The foursome is having a fun February vacation together—until Burke’s mysterious death pushes Wainwright’s buttons to learn the motive for his death.
If Tom Burke had not died on the slopes of Aspen Mountain, Wainwright would never have risked losing everything. However, his suspicious death launched an avalanche—a tipping point—involving nine business partners and a hefty helping of greed, complicity, and murder.
Wainwright returns to company headquarters in Bellevue Washington to dig for clues for a motive for murder. His questions met with suspicion and skepticism from his partners. “Just leave it alone, Garth” or “Let the cops handle this,” Wainwright questions his qualifications to continue, but his bulldog mindset drives him to keep probing for an answer. As he searches for a reason for Burke to die, he uncovers a conspiracy of fraud far bigger than anyone could have imagined. This discovery could very well destroy the company, the reputations of its partners as well as their massive personal fortunes.
And then— another partner is killed. As dead bodies start piling up, Wainwright’s questioning of why they were murdered turns to who is the murderer? Are the murders connected to the fraud? Is the killer inside the company? Which of his remaining partners can he trust? The company’s survival is at stake. Other lives are at stake, especially Wainwright’s. The SEC is watching. The financial community is watching. The Tipping Point is moving toward a fall.
The Tipping Point is a story with a complex and compelling plot. Thrills of a psychological and action variety will keep the reader guessing until the end.

L'autore

Danley’s blue-collar background is far from the high-flying characters, turf wars, and mystery of The Tipping Point. Born an Indiana Hoosier, Danley’s family moved to California because his dad was a machinist in a World War II defense plant. Much later, Walter served his country as a Navy Hospital Corpsman, then in the Fleet Marine Force as a medic. Following his honorable discharge, he sold wood products to the construction trades, attending college at night until a developer client recruited him into commercial real estate, where he spent his working career on the investment side of the business. Danley’s proudest accomplishments are his five grown sons. He credits the wonderful influence of their stepmother, Christopher Norris, a Broadway, film, and television actress. Walter and Christopher were married for eighteen years during the boys’ formative years and remain good friends. Danley is a veteran of four decades of real estate investments on a national platform. He authored the college course, Creative and Unconventional Finance, and lectured at five campuses of the University of California and served on the UCLA Real Estate Advisory Board for three years. Walter enrolled in mid-career at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management, earning an MBA. He did post-graduate work in Management Theory at the Claremont Graduate School of Business. Walter now lives in the Texas Hill Country, where he works on the sequel to his suspense thriller, The Tipping Point, as well as a third novel, which he describes as a historical western with a fantasy twist.
