Night with a SEAL is a great introduction to the new series, where the security team, GAPS, will fight against crime, and I assume, fall in love in the process.
The veteran SEALs, served for ten years, are feeling the years of service in their bodies, and changed the rules of engagement in their skin. They want direct, fast action, while they feel the higher ups are playing the game of politics.
At the same time Jon meets Ali. And what was meant to be a one night fling, seems to grow into more in their minds, while Jon is deployed. Now, I didn't feel much affection between Jon and Ali, they really didn't have a chance to get to know each other. But the possibility, and will, for the feelings to grow is there. The heat level is a notch over medium in this story.
The SEAL team together was solid, the brotherhood vivid. The scare of the kidnapping, and the results from it, consequences of the disillusionment with the current situation in the teams, all leads to the GAPS to be born.
I'm looking forward to the series, I hope the future installments gets a bit deeper, and more involved, into the story ~ Three spoons.
Jon and his team returned from a mission to deploy again for another mission within twenty-four hours. This mission ended with the team returning to the news that Ali and Darci, another team member's sister was being held as hostages at the local bank where they worked. Jon realized immediately the Ali needed to become a part of his life and started to make changes to make that happen.
Night with a SEAL turned into a relationship with a future for both Ali and Jon in this hot and sexy love story.
Ali is not a “fling” kinda girl, but when she meets Jon at her best friends barbecue, she may just be willing to rethink her position on one-night stands.
Hot SEALs: Night with a SEAL is the first work I've read by author Cat Johnson. I liked her fast paced descriptive style, as well as the characters entertaining dialogue. I was surprised that this prequel novella even had some bad-guy action. Although this book falls within the military romance genre, it was not as intensely explicit as some others I've read, but it was still gritty enough to be believable. I liked both Jon and Ali, as well as all the other characters that will be featured in the subsequent novels. I wouldn't call the ending as a HEA, however, neither did it leave me hanging.
All in all it's a solid 4.0
