Sinossi

My name is Reyna Miracle.
Even though a part of my name is Miracle, there’s nothing miraculous about me.
My body portrays the tales of my life.
Every feeling, every heartbreak, every emotion.
Marked. Inked. Stained.
A walking canvas of my messed up truth.

But there’s one confession I can’t put in a tattoo.
A confession that will kill me to tell, but my best friend died before I had the chance.

Now I’m left with him.
The only one who can hold me in the night and squeeze that spot on my neck that feels like my lifeline between sanity and chaos.

But we don’t work together.
We’re absolute poison for each other.
We’re a stifling, suffocating, sickness of darkness.

But I feel safe...because I’ve made an art of pushing people away.

Now he’s pushing back…
And making me believe...
Making me wonder...
Maybe, just maybe...
I could be the one.

4.0 su 5 stelle Finding The One 13 dicembre 2015
Di Jennifer R. Shiels - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Formato Kindle Acquisto verificato
This was a really good book. Reyna has had a pretty rough life. She was a quadruplet but she was the only one that survived. They were born too soon and she survived even though she was 1 pound and 1 ounce weight. Her mother is a specialist when it comes to babies like that. Then her father died when she was 5 years old. It has only been her and her mother for years. They moved to London from America the summer before her senior year of high school. Her mother has always just smiled at everything she does. She got her first tattoo when she was 15 years old and her mother just smiled and called her a Miracle. Reyna goes to college and then goes to Oxford for her Masters Degree. There she meets her first best friend, Marisa, and her boyfriend Liam. Reyna is attracted and has feelings for Liam but he's her best friends' boyfriend. Liam sees there is so much more to Reyna and she talks to him when she doesn't share much with others. The night before Liam is going to propose to Marisa, he shows Reyna the ring and they end up having sex. The next day Marisa is killed in an accident. The grief eats up Reyna and Liam. It's been three years since the accident and Reyna is pretty bad off.

Reyna has some really bad self hate and for the last couple of years she has been in a horrible friends with benefits relationship with Hayden. Hayden was one of Marisa's brothers. They both feel such guilt for her death. Reyna hates that she betrayed her best friend and the woman that saw so much more in her than she saw in herself. She has been trying to end the hooking up part with Hayden because she knows it is destructive for them both. Liam comes back into her life and he wants back in her life. He's trying to be there for her and he is still in love with her. After more heart breaks, Reyna finally starts seeing a therapist. She starts trying to heal and be a better person.

Liam is a really great guy that loved two people. He loved Marisa but he knew Reyna was his one. He couldn't help his feelings. Then he and Reyna hook up and he's trying to decide what to do. Marisa dies and he feels such guilt but also Reyna completely pushes him away and makes sure he knows she doesn't want him in her life. He's had a hard time but he became best friends with Marisa's older brother Theo and they have been there for each other. When he and Reyna see each other again, he just wants to be there for her and be with her. He puts himself out there so much for her and he keeps getting hurt by it.

Definitely worth reading.

4.0 su 5 stelle Very dramatic/emotional beginning 'lost in London series' great bk 20 aprile 2016
Di Fite11 - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

WOW!! So I went straight to reading this book 1st, and did NOT know there was a "London Lovers series" these are stand a lone books and I was able to catch on pretty quickly even without reading the others... However; after this book I intend to do just that..
This book is quite the Love triangle/ emotional, young adults just getting ready to finish grad school and have dreams, only to be faced with Love, Loss, unhealthy and destructive, sexual desires along with sex scenes that can get pretty heated at times!!
This is the story of 'Marissa Clarke, Liam Darby, and Reyna 'Miracle' Miller (as her mother calls her and truly her middle name..) these three have dreams of graduating from Oxford purchasing property & all going into business together... Things take a HUGE halt and over the next 3 years are torn apart, picked back up only to break into pieces once again.. until the end, when healing takes place... However; so many people are effected you get the entire gang from the 'London Lovers series and they all cross into this book too' so a lot going on..
So just a tiny bit about this 'heartbreaking yet also heartwarming book'
Marissa is pretty much the glue of the three - she is a very positive and lovely girl, she is dating Liam and they have a dear love .. Then you have Reyna.. Aka 'Rey' she is very complicated and doesn't feel she deserves love, her mother is a doctor and in her eyes, can do no wrong and is always calling her 'miracle' and no matter what Rey does, even if she acts out or inappropriate - her mom just turns it around to how wonderful she is and it messes with her way 'love should be'
When she meets Marissa, she sees Rey ... Really sees her, and for the first time, Rey feels a connection almost more than a bff even a sister. Then there is a chemistry between Liam and Reyna - yet one 'unforgettable night' changes and even destroys, sooo many lives !!!!! This is quite the book and first from this author.. I am definately going back to the beginning to get a better grasp on the secondary characters in this story.. Theo, Leslie, Finley, Brody, Hayden, Vi, and oh my... Frank.... Love.. Love...Love Frank!!

This is the book were Amy Daws hits her stride as an author. There is weightiness to this book, every word a punch to the gut. I loved it, even while hating the emotions that swirled like black oil on water as I read. Buy it. Read it. Find a hand to hold.

4.0 su 5 stelle Sweet or disastrous in others but entirely deep 13 novembre 2016

There's so much I want to say about this book. So, many things that right now I can't seem to put into words. So, I'll say this: This story was deep. It was awkward in certain parts. Sweet or disastrous in others but entirely deep. Kinda like the bottom of the ocean. The way you see yourself isn't always how the world sees you, in order to love you must first begin by loving yourself.

5.0 su 5 stelle Emotionally Captivating and Brutally Honest ... 25 novembre 2016
Di Shannon Cole - Pubblicato su Amazon.com
Formato: Formato Kindle Acquisto verificato
This was my first read by author Amy Daws and now I'm kicking myself for not discovering her sooner.
This story is told from the POV of Reyna, a young American woman living in London under the watchful eye of her over protective and optimistically empowered mother. Reyna has suffered from significant loss in her life, born a quadruplet but the only one to pull through and survive, she then lost her father at the precious age of only five.
Not knowing her three sisters but always feeling like their presence surrounds her, Reyna carries a guilt that lays below the surface, eating away at her soul, one day at a time. Through the years Reyna never understood how to handle her feelings so she dealt with them by not allowing them to surface and constantly stuffing them down, pretending they didn't exist.
While attending Oxford Reyna befriends Marissa and Liam who help to fill that emptiness she's always felt inside. The three become the perfect group of friends. They lean on each other and support each other with positive reinforcement. Liam and Marissa have been dating for a while and are ready to take their relationship to the next level but when Liam decides to ask Reyna how she feels about it, the truth finally comes out. Although the truth isn't put into words, but brought about by actions. Actions that can destroy friendships and break hearts for all that are involved.
Reyna is ready to confront her decisions and confess to her betrayal but unfortunately for Reyna, she never gets the chance.
After losing her best friend Marissa and carrying the weight of her guilt, Reyna begins to spiral into an emotional wreck, pushing everyone away and feeding her pain with alcohol and random nights with her best friend's brother, Hayden, who is also grieving and drowning in his own form of guilt.
Reyna builds a relationship with Hayden based on only the physical comfort he can bring. Over the next year or so Reyna continues to drive her mother away, always saying the most hurtful and unforgiving things. Her mother loves her and wants her to be happy, she is after all, her Miracle baby. But for Reyna she's undeserving, she's not the one who should have survived and now left with not only the guilt of losing her sisters but also suffering the loss of her best friend, her best friend that she betrayed and never got to apologize to, Reyna hits an all time low, finally at her breaking point. She refuses to see Liam, she refuses to let Hayden get too close, and she distances herself from everyone who knows her.
How much more can she take before it's too much? How much longer can she go on suffering and carrying the weight of the world in her guilt?
This is the story of a girl who blossoms into a woman. A girl who has to lose everything before she opens her eyes to see what's been right in front of her all along.

This story was raw, it was emotionally charged and it was deep. The real life obstacles that each character had to overcome and the challenges that they faced were genuine issues that so many people face and never learn how to deal with.
I admire the author for writing about issues that are typically not discussed.
This story was original and brutally honest.
There were moments where I hated Reyna and couldn't understand why she made the choices that she did, but I could relate and that's what I liked most.
Pushing people away is something Reyna is great at, and so many people go through these same challenges and handle them the same way, especially when they are grieving.
This story is not for the weak at heart. It's not all roses and butterflies. It's about a woman suffering from depression and learning how to overcome her demons to take control of her life again.
I'm so grateful to have read this book and I applaud Amy Daws on writing such a tragically beautiful story. I'm excited to read the rest of the books in this series now!!
