Something is wrong on Tioga Island. It seems the dead aren't staying dead. A panicked call from a U.S. Senator's secret service escort results in the activation of Task Force Archangel, a top-secret Special Forces detachment charged with facing unconventional threats. When Major Thom Gant and his recon team arrive, they find that this private little getaway for the rich and famous has become the domain of the walking dead. Just when it seems things can't get any worse, Gant finds that hordes of zombies may be the least of his problems.

Anthony DeCosmo has penned yet another Task Force: Archangel thriller and a follow up to the absolutely riveting "Opposing Force: The God Particle". As with a previous review, I am somewhat burned out on the zombie theme, but the author's take in this novel is fresh and is really just a plot device rather then the focus. The book is an action packed page turner that I found to be almost impossible to put down, but that is typical of Mr. DeCosmo so far. The author is definitely in my top 2 or 3 active authors, along with Hugh Howey and Steve Konkoly. I have read everything he has published and he has yet to disappoint.

I would classify this book as a techno-thriller with science fiction liberally laced into the writing. The characters are interesting and well developed, the writing is taunt, the science is believable, and the military tactics and kit are spot on. I am looking forward to Book 3. Hopefully, we will see Archangel doing more of what they were doing in the first few chapters of "The God Particle".

5.0 su 5 stelle Not your standard Zombie Apocalyse tale. 2 dicembre 2012

Obviously the second in a series (the third is due, apparently in April or May), it continues the story of the Archangel Task Force, an elite unit of the American military, set up to contain alien (of the extraterrestrial kind) incursions and clean up the dire results of science experiments gone bad, very bad, extremely bad ...

The novel starts off as a standard, ho-hum Zombie outbreak on an exclusive private Southern Pacific resort island ... And then it gets much better ending in an amazing climax.

Can't wait for the next one in the series.

I enjoyed this effort by the author, but I don't think it's his best one to date, and I'll tell you the reason why. I'm sick of cannibal zombies! Zombies have become a cultural icon along with vampires and werewolves these days, and I'm sick to death of them. Tony DeCosmo does do a good job with the book. I enjoyed the read even though it was all about stupid dead people getting up and eating live people making them into dead people who eat more live people, and so on, and so on, and so on. You see what I mean? Zombies were old back in the 1950's and 60's. This resurgance of zombies in books and movies has got me so bored. The series itself is well done so far. And I wouldn't disregard it because of the subject matter of one book or my opinion of it. I gave it four stars because I like Tony's writing. I didn't give it five stars because I'm sick of zombies.

I thoroughly enjoyed DeCosmo's 'Beyond Armageddon' series and thought the first book in this one wasn't bad but something went amiss with this one. The biggest thing for me is the fact that he failed to use contractions - a lot. This was extremely distracting and gave the dialogue a stiff, unnatural feel. His character development didn't progress well in this book either. I'm still a fan and will still try out his next work but I sure hope he goes back to his usual, awesome writing.

This story reminds me of what television shows were like in the 1980s. Fast pace, ok character development, good conflict with resolution, easy to tell good guys from bad.....and good guys always win! I like first book better than this second one in the series. I suggest read first one then this one. A short summary....bad guys make a bad fungus that turns people to zombies, good guys bring bad people to justice. I will read next book in series, hey I like how Anthony writes and have read all his books so far.
