1.0 su 5 stelle Reprint 25 gennaio 2011
Di Elmer Kraft - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile Acquisto verificato
"Painting Wildlife Step by Step" is a reprint of Rod Lawrence's book, "Painting Wild Life Textures Step by Step" released in 1997. They used a different picture on the front and changed the name to make it look like a new release. It seems dishonest to do this without notifying the buying public of what they are doing. I was anxious to get the new book but very disappointed when I realized what they did. Now I have two books with the same pictures and information. I feel ripped off. There was no notice of a reprint on the write-up, when I ordered.

2.0 su 5 stelle Reprint with Different Title and Cover Image 27 gennaio 2011
Di Snug - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
I have Rod Lawrence's older 1997 book entitled: Painting Wild Life Textures Step-by-Step, which has a Wolf Image on the cover, and I give his book five stars for his detailed written and visual instructions. HOWEVER, when I received his "new" book pictured above with a different title and cover image I thought I was purchasing a book with new material inside. It's the same book as the one published in 1997!! No new material/substance, just a couple photos (but same photos used as before) rearranged in the begining of the book. There was no indication that this book was a reprint. I also feel deceived.

5.0 su 5 stelle Book Cover and update 20 luglio 2012
Di Amazon Customer - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
While I was all in favor of doing an update to my book "Painting Wildlife Textures" and honored that it was chosen to be one of the first in the "Classic" books re-release by North Light Books, I was unaware that a new cover would be used on the updated version. I assumed that advertising for this "classic" version would state that this was an update of the original. I would never in any way deceive anyone into thinking this was a different book and hope they would purchase it as such. My honesty and integrity would not allow such a thing and while this was out of my control, I do apologize for any misrepresentation. My goal is to help people with their art and never to mislead them. Sincerely, Rod Lawrence

2.0 su 5 stelle book buying experience reduced to buyer beware 12 aprile 2011
Di Susan Novreske - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
I have taken to sleuthing the copyright page when Search Inside is available for clues about the new publishing trend: take an OOP volume, slap with new cover art and titling, keep new book's guts the same as original volume and sell it to unsuspecting public. It becomes too bad for the buyer if you own that original book - now you can own two.

It is beyond me why a reputable author would agree to have this done to their work. I have no issue with reprinting a volume proven popular but out of print, I thought that's why they were to be called 2nd editions etc. This repackaging of a book as new content when it most certainly isn't will keep me from buying online.

4.0 su 5 stelle Very informative book 1 ottobre 2012
Di Randy - Pubblicato su

I've been painting wildlife for many years now with a technique that I've developed along the way. The steps in this book were a slight variation to the method that I have been using and were just the thing that I needed to improve my artwork. I have always worked from dark to light in my acrylic paintings, but had struggled with just the right shades from darkest to lightest when painting the actual wildlife in the scene. With the techniques in this book, the color graduations are very simple to accomplish. The explanations and illustrations are clear and concise and will lead any artist, no matter what level, to producing better wildlife art.
