HASH(0x980846fc) su 5 stelle 98 percent funny and a few serious moments 16 marzo 2016
Di Donna Holt - Pubblicato su
Formato: Copertina flessibile
98 percent funny and a few serious moments. The life in the check-out line , so funny. And when they move to Florida, like we did, she is right on...and funny about it... Loved the hurricanes, going to the little closet with a 6 pack, to buying a different house with a larger closet for hurricanes and bringing a cooler of beer inside for the hurricane. My husband sat out by our pool in Florida, same town, as I read this section and laughed so hard about the fire ants and snakes....
Recently I met this wonderful lady at our local Pinch a Penny pool store. We had been to the store many times, but after reading her book I just had to go and meet this funny lady, and she is just as funny in person. Read this book for a good laugh, the kind when you are reading the book and you are laughing out loud.... and the husband looks at you with that look. You know the one!

I just loved this book. It is hilariously funny. I could not put it down; I wanted to know what was going to happen next or who was going to do what. If you want a good laugh and some insight into other peoples lives this is the book for you. I bought ten; it is going to make a great gift.
HASH(0x982f075c) su 5 stelle Humor and then some 20 maggio 2013

Ms. Erhart's story reminds us that when we make generalizations and judgments, it is we who are poorer for it. Some folks may have a tendency to think of checkout clerks as mindless automatons, but Ms. Erhart is rich in experience, powers of observation, compassion, humor and her mind is always working.

Bobbi Erhart's story is not simply a humorous tale of grocery carts, customers and baggers. Many events on her life's journey would fell lesser women. But Ms. Erhart, like the mountains she loves, is always rising up. If you check the word "resilient" in the dictionary, you'll see Ms.Erhart's name. From her childhood in Michigan's wild and wooly upper peninsula to her later life in the Rocky mountains, the vagaries of nature play out in her outer and inner environments.

When she finds herself employed as a grocery store clerk, she sees that the checkout lane is really a microcosm of the larger society. Her customers run the gamut between the dualities of young and old, rich and poor, educated and illiterate, healthy and ill, happy and sad. Her insights and humor will reveal and delight, but her book doesn't end at the checkout lane.

For those of you who are Florida transplants, her story of moving from the mountains to the flatlands will ring true and have you nodding your head in agreement.

You can certainly read this book for enjoyment, but you may also be tempted to be a little more friendly to the checkout clerk at your grocery store. Who knows, you may end up in a book someday.
HASH(0x9802c2b8) su 5 stelle Laughed Out Loud! 4 ottobre 2014
Di Stephan Petty - Pubblicato su

This is a very funny book with great insight into the people around us. I laughed out loud as I read this by the pool and every time my wife heard me chuckle, having already read the book, made me reread the passage to her. This made for a longer read time but well worth it. Thanks Bobbie, this brought back fond memories of working in a grocery store. years ago.

What a GREAT book! It's an easy read that's hard to put down. Makes you re-think what you blabber about to your check-out person. You just never know when that person will make notes about your personal quirks and write a book about it. Why will we tell strangers things that we won't tell even our best friends?
I LOVED Ms. Erhart's "straight-on" approach to life's everyday trials. She certainly found humor in them. She tells life like it is--through other people's eyes. I laughed. I cried. I certainly can relate. Just a really fun book to read, PLUS the recipes at the end are an added bonus. Can't wait for her next book to "hit the shelves".
