This is an exceptionally good book. I'm not a big reader of poetry but the cultural learning, multilingual presentation and general interest of Poems for the Hazara makes this a compulsory book for my personal library. The Hazara people of Afghanistan are one of the most persecuted people in the world and are one, if not THE most targeted group by Taliban terrorists. The ethnic cleansing against them has gone on for decades, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths which our western media rarely bother to report on. Hearing their voice in this very thick book, with both in desperation and hope, filled with dreams, family, love, and fear, makes Poems for the Hazara a powerful read. I cannot recommend this book enough.
This is a moving acknowledgement that the world has long ignored the plight of the Hazara people in Afghanistan. It is so often the artists, writers and poets of our world who depict for us what we should have seen but just fail to notice, pre-occupied as we are with our own small concerns. Many thanks to the poets and compilers who have created this lovely book.
If you are moved by the plight of the bullied, this anthology will appeal to you. It will also appeal to you if you like seeing hands reaching out across ethnic and cultural borders and linking to form something of lasting beauty.
It is also a celebration of the resilience, fortitude and heroism of a people who refuse to be trodden down. All around the world there is a flowering and budding of the Hazara culture and spirit in numerous modern contexts.
POEMS FOR THE HAZARA IS A POWERFUL BOOK OF BRAVE AND PACIFISTS WRITERS! A HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE ACKNOWLEDGED POETS FROM DIFFERENT GENERATIONS ALL OVER THE WORLD IN SEVENTEEN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES RAISE THEIR STRONG BEAUTIFUL VOICE IN SUPPORT OF THE ABUSED HAZARA CHILDREN AND PEOPLE IN AFGHANISTAN. POETRY REPRESENTS SUFFERING HUMANITY AND COMPASSIONATE HUMANITY WHO DECIDE TO BRING THE BLOSSOMING BEAUTY OF PEACE AND LOVE TO STOP VIOLENCE AND HEAL THE WORLD FROM WAR. A MOVING READING THROUGH THE UNIVERSAL TONGUE OF POETRY NOT TO BE MISSED.
Publishing this book is a great initiative in international poetry and the Hazara history. Gift of world politicians to our people is weapon to kill and exterminate, but Kamran Mir Hazar and his fellow poets give you poetry and new viewpoints on world major issues. We are all Hazara! تحفه ی بیگانه ها برای دیگران تفنگ بود، تا بکُشند و نابود کنند، برای کامران میرهزار و شاعران همراهش شعراست ، تا بسرایند و بیافرینند
