Sinossi

Vitamin D is shaping up to become the greatest natural health intervention of all time. Not only is it appearing essential to all aspects of our health, it also has the potential of levelling out socio-political disparities.

Prescribing Sunshine: Why vitamin D should be flying off shelves goes further than other books on the topic by looking at angles others dare not examine; bolstered by highly relevant personal experiences. Does high cholesterol really cause heart disease? Does HIV really cause AIDS? Why are pharmaceutical companies enthusiastically developing synthetic clones of vitamin D to treat cancer?

Features over 300 references and exclusive interviews with experts Oliver Gillie, Dr. David Grimes and Prof. Bruce Hollis, plus award-winning medical tele-journalist Joan Shenton.

If you read only one book on vitamin D, this should be it.

4.0 su 5 stelle Excellent first book on vitamin D 30 settembre 2012
Di Henry Lahore - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

This is an excellent first book on vitamin D. It is well written, with memorable stories.
It has a theme of his 6 year personal exploration into the benefits of vitamin D, but manages to cover all of the important topics (see table of contents below)

His brother was born premature, had rickets, autism, and IBS? - which he realized were all associated with low vitamin D levels. He started his investigation into vitamin D when he became aware of the vastly different attitudes of the doctors for members of his dark skined Pakistani family living in London.

He realized that they could not all be correct, so started his personal investigation, which ended by benefiting all members of his family. His personal vitamin D dose level got up to 10,000 IU for about a year, but dropped back to about 4,000 IU after he got repleted.

He uses UK phrasing and refers to UK locations, but his material applies to anyone around the world
He clearly states what is known and includes some very believable hypotheses concerning HIV, MS, . . .

Book includes 3 excellent interviews with top vitamin D researchers.
Just a click away in the book are 339 references. Often just a second click will show you an associated on-line abstract, which sometimes includes full text.
By the way - I have read 15 books and over 3,000 articles on vitamin D. You can see all reviews of the books reviews etc. at VitaminDWiki

by M Aziz: This book started a information trip regarding supplements. After more inquiries I discovered that many medical doctors agree with M. Aziz. and these aware doctors have written books about Vitamin D3. After reading more books regarding fat soluble
vitamins I now supplement my diet with Vitamin D3 because this book started me thinking about it. It is an easy read .

A personal account and easily read description of the importance of vitamin d and sunshine to everyone.
The book gives a balanced review of research while strongly promoting the use of the supplement and obtaining plenty of sunshine.
It uses much of the data summarized on the Vitamin D Council website. Health politicians should read this book and stop restricting the public's access to vitamin D in
countries such as Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

After reading many books and articles about Vitamin D. I find this one both good and bad. It is carefully worded as theory, a good thing from someone not a Medical professional. However, the last two chapters concern me. The conclusion may have merit but the approach will turn a lot of people off and defeat the purpose.

The author weaves together personal anecdotes and scientific research that makes this book hard to put down and fascinating read. I would recommend it to anyone interested in improving their health and learning about the profound science behind high dose Vitamin D supplementation and a personal journey to utilize and spread this knowledge.
