There were two brothers—identical twins—and though I loved them both, my soul belonged to only one.

Annalia Del Valle has loved Preston Sawyer all her life. The daughter of an impoverished migrant farmworker, she grew up as an outcast in what was no more than a tiny, cooped up shack in California’s Central Valley. But her heart found freedom in the land, in the wide-open spaces of Sawyer Farm, and in the boys who were her only friends.

Preston has yearned for Annalia since he was a boy. But a sense of honor kept him from pursuing her until he’s unable to hold back any longer and their worlds—and bodies—collide one hot summer night. A night that sets off a chain of events that will alter their lives forever.

Now Annalia is back in town after disappearing without a trace for six long months. Determined to reclaim her heart, her life, and the baby she left behind—the son who was created in a moment of lust and love and pent-up yearning.

Preston has survived grief, a ravaging drought, and the despair of heartache, but he’s not sure he can survive Annalia again. And he might be unwilling to try. Will pride and bitterness keep him from the one thing he’s always longed for?

How do you heal what is irreparably broken? How do you forgive that which is unforgivable? How do you discover that real honor comes not from circumstance, but from the place deep in our hearts where truth resides? And how do you move beyond the wounds of the past to discover that some loves are as solid as the ground beneath your feet, and as enduring as the earth itself?

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY GEMINI. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

5.0 su 5 stelle More than a Love Story 19 febbraio 2017

Mia Sheridan is a wordsmith. She continually impresses me with the way she crafts a story, the way she weaves an intricate web of love and hope and devastation and societal awareness. Preston’s Honor was another in a long line of Mia’s books that opened my eyes to a side of life I’d never considered, never even given a second thought. That ability is one of the things I most admire about her writing.
One of the best parts of Mia Sheridan’s writing is her characterization. Each character, no matter how different from myself, is easily relatable. There is never a time when I can not find some incredibly relatable part of them. This held true for both Preston and Lia in this book. While I had never experienced the abject poverty Lia had, I had felt the shame of being a burden to the only friends I had. I, much like Lia, have also continually not stood up for myself no matter how much I should have. Preston, while incredibly stoic, also had the inability to speak up for the things he needed, though his desire stemmed from doing what he considered honorable.
This book was so much more than I thought it was going to be, I was intrigued by the synopsis, but it in no way did justice to all the things this book was. From exploring the worst parts of human nature by demonstrating how people decide who a person is by nothing more than what they see on the outside, to plumbing the depths of what can happen when a person has no support and no way to reach out for the help they desperately need, Mia touched on many of the primal fears we all experience. She showed us how bad they can get and then turned around and showed us how to combat those fears and how to become more than what we ever thought we could be because we were strong enough to fight for ourselves.
While Mia Sheridan never fails to tell a beautifully poignant love story, because her books are far more than a romance novel, it is always the other lessons, the extra parts of life she adds that speak to my soul. She sheds light to the ugliest parts of life with a grace that is uncommon and wildly powerful. I love knowing, each time I open one of her books, I will be left a more compassionate and understanding person. There is no greater gift an author can give her readers than a heart that is more open, more tender, and a soul that longs to make a difference, however slight, in the world around them.

I know that whenever I read a Mia Sheridan book, I'm going to be taken on a journey. A journey that will pull every emotion out of me, sometimes softly, oftentimes with me kicking and screaming. Mia doesn't just tell a story in her books, she creates a whole world, with beautiful characters and breathtaking scenery that makes you feel like you're living in the story too. The themes that run through the book are always thought provoking and make me stop and think long and hard.

Preston's Honor does all that I've mentioned and more. Mia made me fall in love with Preston and Annalia from the very start. I couldn't help but love Cole as well, and my heart broke for the circumstances that surrounded Annalia's life. These characters grow from young children into young adults who didn't have the best luck at navigating the world. Mia wrung me out with some of the events that happen throughout this story, but she also wrapped my heart up in warm gooeyness plenty of times too.

I couldn't put this book down, drawn into this story by Mia's masterful writing and expert storytelling. She never ceases to amaze me with each of her stories being completely unique and breathtaking. I can't say enough good things about Preston's Honor. Mia has gifted us another amazing book.

This book had me a crying mess at 2am. I always know when I pick up a Mia Sheridan book that I'm going to feel a lot of emotions when reading and there will be angst but this book almost killed me. Annalia was a fantastic heroine and the way she grew throughout the book. In this book, we get to meet her as a little girl, as a teenager and as a young mother. Annalia did not have an easy life and she's never felt loved. My heart broke for her so many times while reading this. There's a particular scene that deals with some bugs and I had to take a break from reading it made me so upset for her. I love how this author makes the characters feel so real. I loved this book - I did have few small issues with Preston but it didn't take away from how amazing and beautiful this story is. This was such a great book and I highly recommend it!

Mia Sheridan has once again stole a piece of my heart with her latest release, Preston's Honor. With each new book, Mia brings something new to the table that is not only a passionate romance but also a compassionate insight to life, love, family, and society. As I read this novel I found that I was experiencing more than a romance, it was challenging my thoughts on human nature and showing me the other side of those thoughts. It is truly a humble reading experience.

Lia has always been an outsider all of her life. As a child of an illegal migrant worker, life has been one of poverty and constant struggle. As a daughter conceived in violence, she has been a constant reminder to her mother of the evil that stole her hopes and dreams. As a young girl looking at her small world, a farming community, every persons life seems brighter, livelier, and prosperous. As a minority nationality she has experienced the small minded views that leave her feeling like she doesn't quite fit in or measure up to the standards of the community. Meeting the Sawyer twins irrevocably changes her life. The Sawyer twins offer her friendship, acceptance, and unconditional love. Each boy gives Lia something she desperately needs in her life. Cole Sawyer gives her the courage to have hopes and dreams. Preston Sawyer gives her unconditional love and stability. The two boys would do anything for Lia because they both love the beautiful person that she is. As they grow from childhood into young adulthood, the dynamics of their friendship change. Both boys want her heart and know that only one can claim it. How they handle the situation is something only twins, two half of a whole, could do.

As young adults, their lives are only beginning. The Sawyer boys are off to college to create their bright futures. Lia is also creating a better life for herself back at home. She's got a decent job, a better home, and is able to take care of her mother. When the Sawyer boys return home for their father's funeral, all of their lives change once again. The dynamics of their relationship are challenged once again.

Great tragedies take Lia and Prseton's life on a new path. From the tragic mistakes to birth of their child, they are both an emotional mess. Not only are they struggling with heartache and loss, they are also battling their own emotional demons. Mother Nature has also added her own wrath that could not only destroy their farm but ruin their community as well. Lia and Preston's world has imploded. Now they both have to come to terms with their world and own their realities. They have to face the grief and pain in order to move forward. How they choose to handle those emotions is what is going to make them stronger individuals and more committed to their love for one another.

Mia Sheridan has once again delivered an outstanding book.

When I discovered Mia Sheridan, it was like winning the lottery! I started with Archer's Voice, and devoured from there. Archer's Voice, Stinger and Kyland are still my 3 favorite books of all time. While I love everything that Mia writes, I feel her best stories involve a man who loves passionately and whole heartedly, and all his actions stem from that deep love. While she has strayed from that theme recently, this story seems to be back in her forté. I am a lover of great dialogue, and would have like to see some of the lengthy narration replaced by dialogue, otherwise this story lives up to the author's stellar reputation. I love how the author always brings in overlooked cultural issues - poverty, migrant workers, cults, ex-cons, isolation, etc. And she knows how to deliver a strong ending, something that makes many other romances a disappointment. Thank you for gifting us with your superb writing, Mia!
