4.0 su 5 stelle the love interest, the final conclusion of it all 24 febbraio 2016

Cliché and predictable, but enjoyable for a lazy afternoon.

I knew from the moment I started this one (after previously devouring the first part), how it was going to end. I fought it hard and kept looking for something else in the narrative that would surprise me. The villain, the love interest, the final conclusion of it all... entirely see-through in regards to the plot development. I was again surprised with how much some of the wit and sarcasm snuck up on me... but it got old really fast, and overplayed. I went from liking the nonchalant attitude of Vinnie, to just kind of thinking he was an immature douche in his mid-20's who liked to whine. Amber, his minor love interest, felt more like 17 and sassy, instead of the 21-year-old killer she was supposed to be. I really didn't care for Hannah at all.

However, as "bad" as the love story, repetitive dialogue, and lack of surprises were... I wouldn't say I didn't like this book. It isn't one of my favorites for the genre (of horror, satire, parody, or tween-drama... whatever you want to call this), but I was satisfied with it. While you won't find rave reviews about it at your local book club, and I doubt they'll ever turn it into the next Twilight-esque motion picture... you could find worse ways to spend $3 and a rainy day.

Worth a chance, but perhaps not a second read.

This sequel to Pulling Up Stakes is good. If you liked the first book, please try this. The deux ex machina is a little much though. How did only one vampire hunter pick up on how implausible the "event" was? The end solution was sneaky fun. Due to the heavily implied S-E-X, I would not recommend this book to tweens. I feel silly stating that, but I thought I should mention that. I don't think the older " young adult" readers would be too shocked, there isn't anything too explicit.

This is the second half of Pulling Up Stakes (rather than a sequel), and I would highly recommend both. The book is funny and compelling, with a fresh take on vampire lore and vampire hunter culture and a good mystery rolled into it as well. The writing shines through a very relatable first-person narrator and protagonist, and is entertaining throughout. Considering the combined price of both parts, this is a tremendous bang for your buck! I'd call it a perfect commute or vacation book, in the best possible way. Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks on an all-around great reading experience!

Again Peter David kept me on the edge of my seat. Couldn't put it down. Excitement from the first page.

Well, if you thought Vince was in trouble in part one, everything twists and turns and things get a lot worse. Vince and Hannah, sister of his betrothed, join together to battle their way through high vampire politics. The ending is totally perfect. There is a hint at the end as to further adventures coming up. Bring them on!
