Caroline sta lavorando e studiando per diventare una fashion designer. Ad una festa incontra Reed, un professore di matematica e nonostante lui non rispetti i suoi criteri, lei se ne sente attratta. Inizialmente decidono di combattere questa attrazione, perché Caroline cerca la sicurezza in un uomo ed ha paura di finire come i suoi genitori poveri, mentre lui la vede come un' approfittatrice. A causa di ripetuti incontri, i due iniziano a conoscersi meglio fino a capire che sono destinati a stare assieme. Ottima lettura, ogni romanzo della serie riguarda una coppia diversa. Libro scritto molto bene, attrae il lettore e non lo lascia più andare fino alla fine.

I like this author as she doesn't write cliched characters.

For example- her first book that features a bad boy and a math nerd was executed in a manner that wasn't the usual boy-saves-girl. It's more girl-saves-boy. I think most people are sick of the feeble and inept protagonist, whose lives come into focus only through the addition of a melodramatic attraction to a charismatic male figure who seems to carry all the personality in the relationship. In Swank's books - we do not suffer this fate.

I think the premise of this book was really good. However, it veered off after the 3rd meeting. I loved how they first met and the Caroline gives Reed the brush off. It's not melodramatic - it's just awkward. I was hoping for this sophisticated behavior (a touch of hostility disguised by witty acerbic but almost civil dialogue and conduct). It had a Pride and Prejudice feel to it.

However, this doesn't last. The slow burning chemistry, dialogue and maturity dissipates into a melodramatic angst-y teen drama. The character development veers off course and the dialogue is a but cringe worthy. I don't understand the Marxist take over comment either - I mean seriously - Marxist?? I know Caroline's major is Design but still.

However, there were positives. I liked how Reed initially wasn't the cliched type. He's not a big hunk - imagine Bill Gates in his early 20s. That's Reed. I liked that- I liked that he didn't have abs but was nerdy and a bit weedy. It gave him depth. However, (THIS IS NOT A SPOILER) it's obvious that he's trying to hide that he comes from old money. And this ruined it for me. I would have loved it if he were ordinary. But tall, dark, handsome and rich - meh. I loved the goodlooking nerd with brains to make it somewhere. Not a rag to riches Cinderella story (or rtaher trailer park to marrying into Aspen lodges). Just not my taste I guess.

I would have given this more stars but I didn't finish (because it was just too obvious what was going to happen) and so I ought to by default give it 1* but I really liked Reed (minus the cash) hence its a 2*. It's also expensive for a short story. After Math has also gone up in value - I didn't pay that much.

I'm really enjoying the Off The Subject series and the story lines are really good and very enjoyable.

This centres on Caroline and Reed. Caroline is friends with Scarlett, from book 1. She's a fashion design student at Southern University and her background was a very poor when she lived with her parents but she decided she could make something of herself. She has this thought process that she believes she has to have a high society husband who can provide for her and the family she wants to eventually have. She never thought she would have a strong attraction to a maths nerd like Reed. Reed asks her out at a party but she turns him down because he's not from a rich society and she even tells him that!!

They seem to have a love, hate relationship and at time i never believed they were going to be together. This book is packed full of drama from the start and there are alot of secrets revealed throughout the book that's kept me gripped. Characters were both fantastic even though Caroline seemed so stuck up at times and i just wanted to strangle her for some of things she said to Reed. Great read and looking forward to reading Business As Usual book 3 which centres on Reed's sister, Lexi.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Scarlett and Tucker in After Math...but then along comes Redesigned...and Reed. He may be a maths geek but he's cute with a heart of gold underneath his gruff exterior. If you loved Scarlett and Tucker as a couple you will really love Caroline and Reed. I must just say that even though these stories are about college kids they are written in a more adult way so are very enjoyable, even to a middle-aged woman like myself! I can't wait for book 3 and have already pre-ordered it. Just love Denise's writing...especially the Rose Gardner series...if you've never read any of Denise Grover Swank's books then you don't know what you are missing. She writes such great characters and comes up with some brilliant storylines...I don't know how she does it but I am just so glad that she does!! :)

Whatever walks of life, the Heart wants what the Heart wants. As is the case with Caroline and Reed,both from each end of the social standing, but so drawn to each other by sheer chemistry and lust. Which causes a few headaches by the insecurities relating to their differences. However, after a stormy relationship, they resolve their differences and true love triumphs again.

It was nice to view the world through what had been a side character in the initial book. The revelation of secrets was interesting and sometimes worrying, but it was nice to see the building of a relationship as time went on. Three stars for it not being up to Grover Swank's normal level of genius, which comes through in her other novels.
