Sinossi

A sweet kiss changes everything.

One minute, Lady Gabrielle is the toast of London, her first Season with Society a great success—but the choice of gentlemen hardly interest her.

But then, a vicious dog saves the day, his determination to ruin her gown is all it takes for a dashing gentleman to charge to Gabrielle’s rescue. Her boredom is replaced with visions of this gentleman’s smile. Now she cannot help but disagree with her parents’ choice for her marriage partner. Instead, she wishes to marry the handsome stranger who finds her just as fascinating. But her parents will not even consider a “Mr. Nobody” for their favored daughter.

Will Gabrielle give in to her parents’ demands, or will she be driven into the arms of the only man who ever listened to her heart?

Go back in time with us, before Carly or Susannah’s stories (THE GOVERNESS TRILOGY: BOOK ONE and PIRATE BRIDE: BOOK TWO), and read about how their parents fell in love!

L'autore

Romance novels, for some of us, are a necessary thing. Like breathing air, we must have our daily dose. It is life sustaining. This has been true for author Ellise C. Weaver since junior high school when she first discovered romance novels. Ellise quickly learned that devouring a good book was as delicious and satisfying as any feast, yet she’s never quite full. She is grateful to romance writers out there who are busily typing away at new, undiscovered stories that she might, yet again, happily consume. The Governess is Ellise’s first attempt at putting together something delightful for her to read. She was tired of sitting around recovering from a bout with breast cancer and finding that even reading was an impossible thing to do. Her own creativity needed challenging. In that recovery time, she endeavored to come up with something palatable and divine. According to Ellise’s readers, she has accomplished this goal. Writing has become her outlet, and she enjoys working on her newest means for support that she believes a loving Father in heaven has blessed her with. The Huntington Saga Series Novels, so far, has eleven novels: The Governess (Volumes One, Two, and Three; The Trilogy; and The Governess Novella #1); Pirate Bride; Elspeth Was Her Name; Creighton's Daughter; Jonathon's Revenge; Lady Gabrielle; and Lady Elisabeth. Look for these novels and more in the coming months ahead on Ellise's website below. The Governess—Book One: Volumes One - Three each reached #1 on Amazon.co.uk in the Religious & Inspirational Romance category less than one month after being released. All three books reached top ranks in the U.S.A. as well. Find Ellise’s books at this link: www.elliseweaver.weebly.com/books.html *** And for something scary, try out her newest endeavor—a romantic suspense thriller—The Gates of Loughurst Castle: Book One in her Regency Romance Zombie Apocalypse Series. This fast-paced story is a taste of something completely different. Enjoy! ***

3.0 su 5 stelle Lady Gabrielle 3 gennaio 2015

Lady Gabrielle has found herself falling in love with the kindhearted Mr. Blackmore. But her parents insist that she will marry a man wirh a title no lower than a Duke. Without a title, she knows her parents will never approve of Blackmore. Will she risk her parents wrath for true love?

Do not be fooled by the description of the book being 102 pages. It's less than half that. The second half is just an advertisement for the author's other books. Thus it took me only about 20 minutes to read the actual story. There was almost zero character development. And frankly, although Blackmore seemed nice, he and Gabrielle meet only twice before she falls on live with him. She knows nothing about him. The story ends rather abruptly, and we never get to see her confront her parents.

Overall, way too short. Could gave been good, but I found myself disappointed.

I hesitated writing this review but I believe it's feedback for the author. The concept of the story was good but it lacked substance granted it was a short story. I found the characters lacking. I deem a story a good or great story when it allows me to experience the characters emotions such as anger, sadness, happiness, humor, or some other emotion. I want to laugh, cry, or feel outraged. This doesn't mean I won't try another book from this writer; writing is a process that improves.

The story or characters were not very well developed, which adversely affected the flow, but it was a clean romance. This novella, as stated on Amazon reviews, provides the background for upcoming books in the Huntington Saga's - Governess and Pirate's Wife trilogies. I look forward to reading the next book , many of the reviews are good.

Even for a short story, the characters were barely fleshed out at all. There was no love story between the two main characters. No interaction, except for longing stairs, and stuttering by the Female lead. Two interactions and then they were in love; knowing absolutely nothing about each other.

While reading this, I keep thinking back to Pride and Prejudice and thinking this is probably what happened with Lydia and Mr. Wickham...

Very unfulfilling

Nice to have a romance story show that TITLE and money are not required for happiness. It was a shame her mother could not see beyond "the Duke" as away to making her daughter happy. It didn't matter if her daughter was happy, or maybe her only concern was having a Duke in the family to make herself happy.
