Appare di ottima fattura...credo che la valutazione dipenda dall’uso che se ne vuole fare...visto il peso della testa potrebbe andare bene per disboscare ma in questo caso il manico in plastica potrebbe essere un problema. Se invece l’uso fosse la difesa personale il manico potrebbe essere ininfluente ma il peso potrebbe rendere difficile la manovrabilità. Mai testata.

buon oggetto, ben costruito, acciaio di buona qualità. Un poco troppo pesante dal lato della lama, rispetto la impugnatura, per un agevole maneggio. sostanzialmente buono, ma non ottimo.

SOG è da sempre sinonimo di affidabilità, competenza tecnica e qualità.
Conoscevo ed apprezzavo questo Tomahawk dalla linea elegante ed essenziale e dal bilanciamento perfetto al punto che ne pianificavo l'acquisto da tempo, ma trovarlo ad un prezzo così conveniente mi ha convinto a comprarlo subito.
Bartolini, poi, ha fatto il suo lavoro bene come al solito e lo ha consegnato in tempi rigorosamente precisi... peccato solo che oggi piove e non posso uscire in giardino a provarlo immediatamente.

Il materiale è buono ma l'assemblaggio può essere migliorato, soprattutto nella geometria. Dopo solo un pomeriggio di lanci l'impugnatura già rivelava un certo gioco nel serraggio sulla parte metallica. Le brugole sono a stella quindi consiglio di munirsi in anticipo degli attrezzi giusti per serrare la tenuta. Il bilanciamento è molto spostato verso il fronte quindi il Tomahawk tende a ruotare velocemente e richiede una certa perizia per allungare il tiro. Niente di difficile se si è esperti, ma è un particolare che va sempre tenuto in mente durante i lanci. Il fodero è inadeguato, in così poco tempo già due dei tre bottoni automatici non chiudono più. Va messo in vendita, magari optional un fodero più consono alla qualità generale dell'oggetto. Personalmente me ne farò uno di cuoio.
Rimarchevole la sagomatura della parte bassa della lama che evita di ferirsi impugnando l'ascia nella parte superiore dell'impugnatura.

Il prodotto e' ottimo, i materiali di altissima qualita', il peso adeguato il bilanciamento ottimo. si puo' usare a una mano o con due senza problemi e la fondina e' pratica.

Fun toy for outdoors

I purchased this tomahawk as an impulse buy based on it looking "cool". I never intended to actually find a use for it, but it proved itself to be quite valuable. I take this with me when I go hunting, camping or to the cottage and use it to chop small branches off trees, or use the side of it as a hammer to pound tent stakes into the ground. So far it has endured 3 years of use and is still going strong with no more signs of damage, although the black coating is scratched off in a few areas.

The blade comes pretty sharp but I went even further and sharpened it on a whetstone. The blade is usually sharp enough to last a weekend of chopping small branches and throwing it repeatedly into the ground and my friends who insist on throwing it at trees. Comes in handy for making kindling wood to get the fire going as well.

In regards to throwing, I admittedly tried it a few times. The first I got luck and manage to stick it to a tree quite well. The second and third attempts I failed and never tried again. I'm certain there is a technique to it and if you are familiar with it, then this should work as it is possible.

Grip wise, the entire shaft and handle area is made of a hardened plastic. Under regular conditions it is sufficient enough but if your hands are wet I found it’s hard to keep a firm hold on it. I have a few pair of Mechanix gloves and they provide tremendous amounts of grip when holding this compared to bare hands.

The nylon sheath is made very well and has survived the last few years. The buttons have a very prominent snap to them and hold extremely well.

Pros:
- Looks cool
- Blade is good quality
- Made of extremely durable hard plastic
- Comes with a sheath for transport and storage

Cons:
- Grip can be slippery
- You need a proper axe for firewood, this will not serve dual purpose

Let's put this out there first - I did NOT buy this product to split wood or cut down large trees, I have a couple hickory-handled axes, a eastwing long-handled hatchet and 2 fiskas wood splitting axes (I would recommend those axes for sure - driven over, abused, still going strong with no head detachment issues).

This tool was bought for it's weight, ease of use and the amount of abuse I could put it through. At - 40 degrees, with ice, frozen rock and dirt, this thing got scratched. Scratched, not bent, not broken. The handle is great, (better with a lanyard - easy enough to install), the metal works well, the sheath is good quality. I leave in my truck for winter-road use along with an emergency shovel (has a saw blade as part of the handle) and it comes in very handy for many functions. I will admit, I wasn't sure how practical it was going to be when I opened the box and saw how, ummm, 'compact' it was. I'm sold now, I'd buy it again and would probably buy it for those guys that spend 2 weeks in the bush (or tundra, or mountains...).

This was my first tomahawk purchase and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. I was able to throw 4 spin tosses from about 42 feet on my first day with it. It is very sharp and very durable. I tried for a 50 foot throw but was lacking room, I hit a high tree branch, it got lopped off and the hawk just kept on flying. I hit it very hard several times on my target board at all kinds of angles and I swear it looked better after a day's use than when I first took it out of the box. I did damage the handle, took a chunk out of it, but only because I throw another axe and it hit the SOG dead on blade first. Yes I cried, then continued to use it like that never even happened. It did not affect the throwing one bit. Overall, this is a great product at a decent price. I would recommend this to anyone. I am also looking forward to trying out his brother the Fast Hawk. Hope this review was helpful.

They're a nice size in that they are usable yet compact

I have two of these. One I use for miscellaneous camp tasks and throwing (and they are a blast to throw) and one I keep in my off road gear in my truck. They're a nice size in that they are usable yet compact. The handle is long enough that you can still get a strong swing behind it.

My only complaint is the material the handle is made of. If the handle had some more texture on it or something it would be much more functional. I've wrapped one with Camo Form tape and one with hockey tape, both I feel are much more functional now.

Not the best Axe but a Really great Tool

The Axe head cuts well but looses its edge after about an hour of heavy use. It sharpens easily.
The pick is an excellent digging tool and has the strength to haul up roots, stones, and hardened clay.
The flattened sides can pound home tent pegs and most nails fairly quickly.
Its light and easy to carry and absorbs shock when swung but I will be wrapping it in paracord for better handling.
I have no interest in throwing it.
If it held its edge better it would be a 5 star tool.
