Looks good and it feels strong but not Bigger enough for a family it’s ok if your living on your own, keeps the smell down filter could be a lot thicker then it would stop the smell completely as filler is thin and just about covers the hole with about 3mm gap in places the Centre of the lit about 4” wide with holes in. update to this review when to empty today 17th may 19 and the bin was riddled with maggots taking a closer look at the lid the filter is to small to cover the hole in the lid allowing files to enter the 5 holes on the top of lid and slip though the filter not a good design at all mesh needed on the holes to stop flies I would not want this on very hot days when flies are around even more had to send back for a refund.

Der Filter ist viel zu klein und er rutscht in dem für ihn vorgesehenen Raum hin und her und lässt zentimetergroße Lücken offen. Der Deckel passt auch überhaupt nicht, ist viel zu groß und rutscht hin und her mit entsprechenden Öffnungen an den Seiten.
Keine Empfehlung.
€ 20,- in den Sand gesetzt oder kann man einen gebrauchten Mülleimer gurückschicken?

A flaw in this design is that water on the plastic bin or steel bin--if not dried completely, or condensation from a warm bucket inside and cooler kitchen means the metal steel bin can collect water inside. The way the bottom if formed is sandwiched steel rim, water can run into it and sit for weeks. Overtime this rusts the bottom rim from the inside out.
We had 3 separate areas on ours where the paint bubbled and was severely rusted underneath. The pictures show after I sanded most of the rust off, so we could re-prime and repaint it. My advice to anyone buying this is run a bead of silicone caulking into the gap on the inside steel bottom. (Last photo shows the gap I'm talking about).. This would prevent water wicking into that slot and creating rust.
Product did come with lifetime warrantee so you could always contact the manufacturer and get a replacement. But I figured easier to fix it myself than deal with returns and shipping.

Other than this was happy with the product, very good for keeping away fruit flies - only became an issue when the bin was very full or something was left on top of the vent holes and condensation built up on the filter. the bin is also very easy to clean with the black internal bin being removable and machine washable.
It's just disapointing that something designed to be placed on a kitchen worktop that typically gets wet would rust after 6months
