Shadow Bound (Paranormal Ghost Story) : Crossing Realms Book 2 (Wraith Series) (English Edition) Formato Kindle
After recovering from a horrific fire that took the lives of two people and released her best friend, Evan, to pass from this world to the next, Jane Watts finally has a chance to live a normal life.
If you consider seeing and guiding ghosts normal.
It’s summer and Jane and her friend, Ava, spend the hot, humid days working and hanging at the pool while Jane’s boyfriend, Connor, attends summer school. With the ghosts under control, things are going well until a friend from Connor’s past reconnects with him. Hours later she kills herself. Charlotte’s suicide throws Connor into a tailspin and her ghost latches on to Jane because, as they learned from Evan, ghosts only linger if they need something.
Unfortunately, Charlotte doesn’t need something. She wants something.
In book two of the Crossing Realms series, Shadow Bound, Jane struggles with the fact that not every spirit is welcome and not all have good intentions. With Ava’s help, Jane stumbles into a decades-old murder, what her gift really means and how to save Connor from forces intent on destroying them all.

This is the second book in the `Wraith' series, and kicks off the summer after the end of book 1 `Wraith'. **Warning - some unavoidable spoilers for book 1 `Wraith'**
Jane has recovered from the events of the first book, and is now seeing Connor, but isn't really seeing ghosts the way she used to see Evan.
This all changes though when a girl that Connor spent time with in hospital (Charlotte) commits suicide. Connor can't see her, but Jane can, and things get weird between them.
Jane doesn't know what this girl meant to Connor, or what their relationship was like, but she does know that the girl - Charlotte, is angry about something, and that she's doing something to Connor. Connor is behaving strangely, and getting himself into trouble, and Jane and Connor's relationship is going downhill fast.
Can Jane help Connor? What does Charlotte want? And why does it seem that ghosts can now physically touch Jane?
I enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced story, and I liked the mystery element.
Jane is once again a sweet girl. She's learned to live with what she is, and now that she knows she can help these ghosts, she tries to do what she can. Charlotte is something new for Jane though, a ghost with malevolent ideas, who is not only purposely trying to hurt Connor, but also trying to harm Jane.
Connor is a little more messed up in this instalment. He seems to be coping less well with the ghosts, and also seems to be having issues with his medication, and even knowing the difference between right and wrong. Connor really needs help, but it's so difficult to know what anyone could do to help him, and although Jane tries her best, it's obvious that there's no obvious solution for Connor.
There's a lot less romance in this book compared to the first, mainly because this time Jane and Connor's relationship is in trouble, but this was necessary to the storyline, and wasn't an issue for me. It was interesting to see the troubles that Jane and Connor were having, and how easy it was for Charlotte to drive a wedge between them. I'm hoping that some of these issues will be resolved in the third and final book.
I liked the storyline in this book, and I was surprised at a few points. I did make some guesses as to what would happen, but they were only partly right. There were a few little twists that I really appreciated, and I'm glad that we got a proper ending to the story. That being said I am interested to see what happens in the next instalment!
Overall; a great sequel! If you liked Wraith, you'll like this.
7.5 out of 10.
The plot in this book is really compelling especially as the danger factor revs up. Good suspense.
My only complaint--and it's not just with this author--is that so many books in this genre create tension because the characters don't or won't just talk to each other!! I guess this is somewhat realistic, but even when the main character's bestie is telling her, "you really should talk to him about this," and then the story gets all wonky because they can't step outside their little boxes of hurt and anger and have a conversation... yeah, ok, that kinda sounds like real life. Angel! Dang it! stop being so realistic!
Besides that, this is a really good (and fast) read. I love that I can support independent and talented authors--you won't be sorry about this story.
