Leigh is a writer of the best kind because she loves her characters and the world they live in and makes a reader jealous that they can't visit it. There is magic in these pages. (SISTER SPOOKY)

Siege and Storm carries on the fantastic plot which was so intricately carved in book one, and the writing continues to be clever, funny and heartbreaking all at the same time. This book will have you laughing one minute and an emotional wreck the next, as Alina's powers are pushed to the limit and her relationships are tested to breaking point. I for one cannot wait for the third and final book. (BOOK CHICK CITY)

Siege and Storm is a fantastic sequel to last year's debut SHADOW & BONE. In fact, it was even better. It had everything I loved about the first book-the world-building, the incredible characters, the immersive writing-and more. My heart! This book is truly epic, filled with oodles of imagination and entertainment. (WINGED REVIEWS)

I was away on the ships and wandering through Ravka with Alina and Mal, I was on the receiving end of his kisses and his annoyances. I felt the sun warm the pages whenever Alina summoned and I felt the fear when The Darkling was around. There is nothing I don't love about the world in which the Grisha trilogy is set and I cannot wait until next year to see how this series is going to conclude. (READARAPTOR)

I wrote a piece here gushing about why the Grisha series is so different and so special. There are many small reasons that all come together to create the awesomeness. But there are also many more that I can't even explain. Maybe it is different because it is just magic. It has the most exquisitely constructed world, the best-written characters, the most amazing writing and storyline. And it always always always leaves me desperate for more. It always leaves me aching, foaming at the mouth, for more: right now. And that, perhaps, is why it is so special. It is magic. It is beautiful. It is perfect.

Well, except for that cliffhanger. How am I meant to make it a whole year with that hanging over my head?!

Leigh Bardugo, you sure know how to involve your readers and make them an emotional wreck. Siege and Storm is an enthralling sequel that seriously ups the game and expectations of the reader. It is written so beautifully that is flows flawlessly while keeping the magic alive in the readers mind. If you want to read a fantasy series that has a truly unique world then read this series. (READ WRITE AND READ SOME MORE)

...a strong and satisfying sequel solidifying my belief that The Grisha Trilogy will go down as one of my favourite series of all time. (JESS HEARTS BOOKS)

Wow, wow, wow - that's all I can say. Siege and Storm only confirms that Leigh Bardugo is a must-read author for all teenage bookworms and fantasy fans! Set in a beautiful and magical fictional land, the novel draws you in with its vivid imagery and unique array of characters... If you haven't entered the world of Grisha yet, then why on earth not?! I mean, you know a novel is superb when words fail you and you just can't coherently speak anymore... right? (FEED ME BOOKS NOW)

In so many series the second book is a huge let-down. Siege and Storm? An exception. It is a squillion times better than Shadow and Bone... I adore the writing - it's so lyrical, so beautiful, yet so modern and witty and funny. I love this blend of classic fairytale and modern day. And it always seems to leave me wanting more! And the plot was amazing too. It was just nonstop action, nonstop thrills, nonstop suspense and nonstop excitement. I gobbled it up, falling harder in love each time. And then having my heart totally broken. Numerous times... I didn't see ninety-nine percent of the twists coming and could have just read this three-hundred-odd-paged-book in one sitting! You know, if I didn't need sleep and food and stuff... (The Book Addicted Girl GUARDIAN TEEN BOOKS)

5.0 su 5 stelle The darkest, most addicting book I've EVER READ!!! 23 giugno 2014

Formato: Copertina rigida Acquisto verificato
SIEGE AND STORM was AMAZINGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!! So utterly amazing!! I forgot how much I loved this world in SHADOW AND BONE, but I was pleasantly pleased to have SIEGE AND STORM remind me of just how much this series means to me!! I'm just mad that I waited so long to read it. But.... on the other hand, I'm happy I did wait because I was able to dive right into RUIN AND RISING, the last book in the trilogy (Which I'm reading now and loving it just as much as SIEGE AND STORM, if not more. Shhh... no hints ;)
SIEGE AND STORM has this darkness about it that no other book I've read ever had. And it was refreshing to have a book with such darkness, yet a light that's breaking through the barrier to bring balance into the story. It was amazing, to say the least!!

Alina Starkov is on the run from her last encounter with the vicious Darkliing. He's hunted Alina in the past, and she knows he's hunting her now. And he'll continue to hunt her until he captures her and possesses her Sun Gift Power she wields. He's evil and deadly and has nothing but darkness inside of him. He will unleash a tornado of dead bodies in his wake until he gets what he wants, and he wants Alina, all of her...

Alina just barely made it out alive in her last battle with The Darkling, and she's not ready to take that chance again. Her and her best friend and love of her life Mal, escaped the fold, but not without paying a high price in blood. Lots of lives were sacrificed for them to escape. Now Alina and Mal are just trying to lay low and make enough money to disappear together and leave their terrible past behind them, forever. But The Darkling is not ready to let her go, he's on her trail, and he'll find her, he always does, but this time he might just take all that she loves.

Alina and Mal will have to join forces with a powerful ally if their going to survive. They realize they can't run from The Darkling, they can't escape him, the only way to be rid of him and his evilness is to end him of his wretched life once and for all! As their plans make a 180 in a different direction, and more problems arise, they will have to be prepared not to run from The Darkling, but go to war with him, but this time, she may not make it out alive...

SIEGE AND STORM was sooo much better then the first book SHADOW AND BONE! And the first book blew me away, but this book was EXPLOSIVE!!! We were introduced to new characters in this second book, and Sturmhond was one of them. And let me tell you, he was so dreamy and funny, and totally swoon worthy!! I just wish he was in the first book too, and we were able to get more of him!!!

Overall SIEGE AND STORM was one of the best books I've read this year. And that's saying a lot because I've read some pretty awesome books this year!! But SIEGE AND STORM has come very close to the top!! If you like darkness, with a touch of light, good versus evil, and a deadly game of catch the mouse in the trap, then I'm sure you're going to love SIEGE AND STORM as much as I did!!!

3.0 su 5 stelle Great, but brought down by one character 2 settembre 2014

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars

I really enjoyed Shadow and Bone and was extremely excited to continue the ride. I decided to put it off until closer to the release of book three just in case there was any kind of crazy cliffhanger that I needed immediate answers for. I kind of felt like there were times that I was slogging through this book. I know eventually everything was important or to the story or perhaps will be in the next book, but I sometimes felt like I was drowning in stuff that I didn’t care about.

The biggest problem I had about this book and really both books so far, is the romantic element. I know that it’s important and that it shouldn’t overshadow the overall story, but I feel like it does and not in a good way. In the first book, we were supposed to care about Mal, but fall for the Darkling. In this book, I feel like we were supposed to fall for Mal, forget about the Darkling and accept this new horse that is suddenly in the running. Honestly, I still don’t like Mal. He’s whiny and selfish and even more so in this book. I wanted to smack him around for being such a jerk. And of course his jerkiness happened right about the time I was beginning to be resigned to the fact that Mal was Alina’s end game. I don’t like it, but I was beginning to accept it. Now I’m kind of hoping that he dies in the final book and Alina ends up with the new horse (who is my absolute favorite character so far in the series).

The Darkling is still a badass…although mostly absent in this book. I did kind of miss him, but he is honestly not the character that I fell for in book one, which is okay since I have a new favorite. The way this book ended was exciting and set up what should be an epic final book. I still love this series and I love Leigh Bardugo’s writing. She has created a compelling world and some extremely interesting characters. The magic of this world is great and I feel like there is still more of it to be revealed. I think I would have rated this book higher if Mal had been killed off at some point. I feel like he drags Alina and the story down. I’m hoping for some kind of redemption for his character in the next book to make me understand why he’s still around and what his purpose is. I can’t wait to read Ruin and Rising.
5.0 su 5 stelle I craved more action like the first book 27 ottobre 2016

Wow. That ending was surreal. I have to say, this book was a bit slow for me, and that is the only reason I knocked it down half a point. I craved more action like the first book, but I was not deterring. The storyline is simply amazing. I haven't read anything quite so captivating and mystifying. In the first book of this series and in this second book, I have found myself blown away by plot twists. I don't think I've read anyone who can plot twist like Leigh Bardugo.

There is a new character introduced, Sturmhond. And I won't say much... but wow. I love him. I love the Darkling and all his wonderful darkness, but I love Sturmhond's sauciness. Saucy Sturmhond. So. Much. Sauce.

Favorite quotes:

"Tell him you see me when he takes you in his arms."

"I've seen what you truly are," said the Darkling, "and I've never turned away. I never will. Can he say the same?"

"Don't worry, tracker. You'll know when our deal is up. I'll be certain you hear it when I make her scream."

"I came here for you. You're my flag. You're my nation."

I don't want to get into too much detail seeing as this is the second book of a series. I will not give away any spoilers! But there is ONE THING that you must know.

This book series is a MUST read.

3.0 su 5 stelle Was not my favorite. But still great writing 19 luglio 2016
Di The Pages In-Between- Tracy Thomas - Pubblicato su

So, I really loved Shadow and Bone, I thought it was such a great book. I however, did not love this book. I enjoyed it yes, but I wasn't completely swept off my feet. I loved the introduction of a few new characters. I am growing very attached to one of them, and I am quite nervous about how their story line will play out.

Mal is getting on my nerves, he is acting like a spoiled brat, it's as if now that he has confessed his feelings, Alina should cater to him, and do as he wants. I do not think he likes Alina being the shining star. I may be wrong though. I just don't agree with how he is acting.

The book dragged a bit for me. Those last 100 pages though, were pretty amazing. I wish the whole book had flowed like that. I also really enjoyed the bonus content, and the short story about Genya.

Despite my lack of love for this book, I really still think Leigh's writing is beautiful. I love the world she has built. The story is unique, and enticing, and no one is safe, which I really enjoy. She has a fearless type of writing. And I really appreciate that. I do look forward to finishing this story. Ruin and Rising sounds incredible!

"A dead martyr was less trouble than a living saint."

Golden Sunbursts

My favorite part of this one is the character of Sturmhond. He is a privateer that comes out of nowhere and it's hard to see where he stands. He's mischievous, full of swagger, and surrounded by powerfully loyal friends. I loved his entry into the story and all the twists and turns that he brought with him. I loved his personality and his quick wit. I also appreciated the two characters of Tolya and Tamar that worked alongside Sturmhond. They are twins, incredibly loyal, and a pair that you definitely want on your side.

Alina and Mal in the beginning of Siege and Storm are on the run. It's actually quite entertaining to see them on the run though you'd expect that to be the boring part. I liked their characters a lot better in the beginning.

I continue to appreciate all the side characters and how every single character in the series has both good and bad in them. This makes them far more realistic and also harder to tell who deserves to be rooted for.

This book suffered from 2nd book syndrome in my opinion though I'm sure others will disagree with me. It became all angsty instead of revving up the action. As far as I'm concerned the beginning was good and the ending was good (though it's a cliff hanger), the rest was quite tame and boring. Our heroine who has so much incredible power barely even uses it, instead gets captured time and again. She also embraces her own death at one point which incredibly infuriated me. I fail to see how her death would've helped at all. The romance was horribly disappointing.

Proposals Everywhere

The romance in this one is terrible. Just figure out what you want! I don't even give a crap who it is with, just that all this angst and wanting with no resolution finally go somewhere.

Into the Unsea

The side characters are fantastic. The world building and powers included are quite fascinating. However, the action lowered and parts of this read were just lackluster. The angst was on high and everything else was on low. I will read the next book as I'm quite enthralled by the characters and have to know now how all this ends, but this one was not as good as the first.
