The video is right to caution you on using proper form and making sure you're warmed up. The intervals are intense! If they don't hurt you're not doing them right! I usually ride an extra ten minutes before I even start the video. Like the previous reviewer, I too usually need a recovery day after this one. Warning, the transitions from bike to weights are fast so you may want to have a pause button handy at least at first.
Good luck and great riding!
Few things--this is not strictly a cycling workout, it includes leg strength exercises like squats and jumps. First time you do it, you'll need to watch a separate chapter on the DVD for guidance on form for the squats and jumps. And, be sure to have separate shoes for the jumps if you're wearing clipless cycling shoes...can't really jump in those. (Note: for people with knee problems/concerns, the trainer offers alternate exercises to the jumps, which is good.) Also, I have a few other Spinervals DVDs, but this is the first one I've owned that included guidance for people on a spin bike (rather than on a road bike in a trainer) and that is much appreciated as well. With this DVD, I'm not trying to figure out what Big Ring-15 and Big Ring-12 mean in terms of resistance on my spin bike.
