Far too often ragtime piano is considered a fringe genre with few champions besides Max Morath, who, along with Rudi Blesh (They All Played Ragtime) made sure ragtime was known and listened to during the 1960's and 1970's. The soundtrack to the movie The Sting further expanded ragtime's popularity. Since then, however, ragtime gradually lost its appeal.
However, Reginald R. Robinson has brought it back to all those lucky enough to encounter his renditions of classic ragtime. Now if only more people would get this and his other recordings to once again experience well-played piano rags.
