L'autore

Sarah Cooper is a comedian, speaker, and author of bestselling books How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men's Feelings and 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings, both of which are in development as series for television. She built her comedy career in between working for companies like Yahoo! and Google, where she was fed free lunches and lots of material.

In April 2020, Sarah went viral with a video called "How to Medical," in which she lip syncs Trump's proposed COVID-19 cures of UV light and disinfectant, viewed over 25 million times across Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. She has since created dozens more Trump lip-syncs each garnering millions of views. She was named one of Variety's 10 Comics to Watch for 2020, will be featured at this year's Just for Laughs Festival and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show, Ellen, and has been featured in Vanity Fair, The New York Times, Washington Post, InStyle Magazine and countless others.

Sarah's first comedy special, Everything's Fine, aired on Netflix in October 2020.

I thought this was very amusing and recognised most of the behaviours in myself and others at work. However I work in a very female environment, and I find that a lot of it equally (and sometimes more) relates to working with other women - eg the tendency to couch orders as emoji-laden inquiries. Other women can find the same behaviours threatening in other women, and interestingly, the men in this environment exhibit the same low-power indirect communication styles ie this low-power communication style has become the company norm. A more even male /female mix works best I have found.

I haven't read the book yet but the Kindle edition' s format is horrible: feels like I'm reading a PDF file (no access to dictionary and pages do not fit my kindle's or phone's screen).

This has got to be one of the funniest books that I've seen!. Full of tongue in cheek humour & great illustrations. It just about sums up the workplace!
I have bought two, one for each of my daughters as I know this book will resonate with both of them & give them a chuckle at the same time!
