*****This book is the third compilation of an ongoing serial story and therefore does not have a conclusion. The fourth book, The Risen, is the conclusion to this series and is now available.*****

New friendships will be forged, answers will be found, and lives will be lost as the survivors journey deeper into unfamiliar and treacherous areas. With new dangers arising every day, they find themselves faced with only one conclusion; sometimes the end of everything they know is just the beginning of something more.

L'autore

My name is not really Erica Stevens, it is a pen name that I chose in memory of two amazing friends lost to soon. However, I was born in New York and moved to Mass as a child. I spent my time growing up between NY and Mass so I have some interesting times when sports games roll around. I was fortunate enough to marry my best friend over two years ago and I don't know what I'd do without him. I have a large, crazy, fun loving family that just loves to laugh. My parents, siblings, nieces and nephews have taught me a lot and made my life much more entertaining and enjoyable. I love to read and have wanted to be a writer since I was nine years old.

Author does well at setting up suspenseful scenes and a feeling of hopelessness, but the characters survive the threats, most of them do. I keep saying to the characters, "get some headlamps on some of your scavenging raids would ya!" I've stuck with this series, I don't agree with some of the negative reviews, the story is good and told in an interesting way.

The story so far is scary and hopeful all at the same time. The way it is told and the conclusion that I see it ended at is totally different then other books like this. There is very little peace for our survivors as they encounter one disaster and death after another. I found my heart breaking for the loss and at the same time smiling for the family they have found in each other. This book starts to explore and explain things that you wonder about. It's a great read and I love the way it's being told! I am going to be sorry to see it end in the next book but I am also anxious to see the end.

It's so hard to give a accurate review on this book with out giving away any spoilers!! AHH! I just love this series--it takes you on such a intense adventure. Book 3 we will follow the group of survivors as they continue to travel in hopes of finding a safe place to live permanently. During their travels, they come across more of the lost souls. This provokes the group to question if there could be a cure for these people and hope for the humane race. Riley makes this a priority to research as much as she can before more people are lost.

This book isn't all sunshine and rainbows though; Riley, John and the rest of the group will come across more survivors. They will welcome some, and even lose some familiar faces.

With all the dynamics of this book, I often found myself holding my breath in anticipation or fear of what was going to happen next. Erica Stevens never disappoints with her details and characters--I'm so excited and yet sad to start the last book in this series.

Love this series. Apocalyptic and survivor excitement with great characters. The stories are action packed and I was hooked after downloading the first one for free. Paid about $4 for each one after that and cannot say a penny was wasted. The author is a great story teller and keeps you interested and eager to find out what happens to the characters in the next installment.

Yes, there are still a few errors grammatically and in word choice (wrong form or wrong spelling), however they are not distracting and are very forgivable seeing as they are great stories and more than reasonably priced. So if you are a stickler for excellent editing - please move on to a best selling author with best seller prices.

I love that the internet has given an outlet for great story tellers to provide avid readers so much enjoyment either free or very inexpensively, even if they cannot afford to hire great editors (few very critical review writers understand how much money it costs for editing).

Thank you, Erica, for a great series. When I'm finished with #4, which I will start as soon as I am finished with this review, I look forward to reading your other works!

Ms. Stevens is a terrific story teller who has a knack for bringing all her various characters to life, and makes the reader feel "in the story". I felt the fear, the sadness and grief, the exhaustion, the grim determination, the heart-stopping terror and the moments of relief - everything the characters were experiencing. I care about these "people". I have enjoyed reading many apocalyptic books over the years including the supernatural good vs evil classics like King's "The Stand" and McCammon's "Swan Song" (highly recommend both). But this series makes Mother Nature the culprit, which may or may not make it more plausible, but it certainly makes it more timely given our ecological concerns. The writing may not be quite as polished as King or McCammon, but it is more than adequate, and the character development is excellent. The series is so good, I can easily overlook the poor editing (one repeated error is the use of personal for personnel). If the three books in The Survivor Chronicles that I've read to date are indicative of Ms. Stevens story-telling skill, I have found a new author to add to my list of favorites.
