While book two is as spicy as book one, it's otherwise very different. Juliana meets the hero for the first time, and it isn't love at first sight. She's interested, but she just can't get into brunettes. When she meets a blonde duke with a lack of personality, she inexplicably decides to go after the pale prig instead. You might think, wow, that's really unappealing, having the heroine being kind of a dips*** by going after someone she shouldn't and ignoring the guy she should, but it's actually understandable. The hero is a widower, and he's pretty much said he's not going to fall in love again. The duke, on the other hand, has all the requisite qualities that would make a good enough husband, and Juliana doesn't feel like she has a whole lot of time left in the marriage mart. Luckily, the hero thinks with his dick, and manages to up the lust factor between himself and Juliana so much they have to end up together. Well played, hero.
I really liked this book - it reminded me of Jane Austen's "Emma".
Juliana is a compulsive meddler - she has a good heart and just wants to see everyone happy. James is a wonderful hero who doesn't think he will ever fall in love again after losing his beloved wife Anne and their child.
Throw in a couple of hypochondriac aunts, a couple of cousins, a little girl with a snake and a wallflower friend trapped in an unwanted betrothal and you have yourself a meddler's dream come true :)
Juliana schemes to make everything right for everyone and almost ends up losing the love of her life.
James was a great hero, he finds himself falling for Juliana and going along with her scheme to be able to spend time with her. I would have liked it better if Juliana had been portrayed as his soul mate rather than his second love - logically I know people can love more than one person, but in a romance book, I want the love of a lifetime - I want soul mates. I don't doubt his love for Juliana - I just wanted it to be more.
I am looking forward to reading the final book in the trilogy - I was hoping for more of Griffin and Rachel in this story, but they barely made an appearance so fingers crossed for Griffin and Rachel in the final book!!!
Juliana and James were meant to be together. It took a while for them to realize it but it was worth the wait. She wanted to see everyone happy so she did her best at match making. Juliana had a good heart though. Too bad she made a mess of things. James was a man of my dreams. Loved him. Loved the side friends and relatives. Did not love Emily and that snake. Inappropriate for an 8 year old. Wonder when she would give up that form of security blanket. Other than that, I loved the book. Reading this trilogy out of order. Book 3 waiting for me.

This book dragged a little for me compared to Lost in Temptation. Juliana's plotting was a little over the top and annoying to me, and her denseness about her feelings for James irritated me at the book's beginning. Overall, though, I still enjoyed the book enough that I plan to read more by this author. Thank you to the author for offering the first book in this series (Lost in Temptation) for free. It hooked me to buy both this book and the third in the series, and I also downloaded Fabulous Firsts per the author's suggestion at the end of the book. I've been looking for a good Regency roman author, and I've found one in Lauren Royal.

The Chase family is delicious. Every book in the entire series has been a joy to read with Ms. Royal’s impeccable dialogue, setting, and plot. Even though they are each about a HEA (love this), the way the HEA finally comes to fruition has me chuckling and shaking my head and even a few gasps. This time Lady Juliana Chase, as usual, determines to help everyone in need whether they want her help or not. Stumbles and mistakes and miscommunications abound. A great read.
