Sinossi

Suzy's a control freak and has her life mapped out - work hard, find a man with a stable job, and live happily ever after. She's content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down.

City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, preferring to be the typical bachelor. He spends his nights hopping from one bed to another and his days working at his family tattoo shop, Inked. A chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever - a relationship.

A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is City the knight in shining armor to the damsel in distress? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that changes everything?

From USA Today Bestselling author Chelle Bliss, Throttle Me is the first book in her alpha male romantic series, Men of Inked.

Genre: Romantic Suspense

2.0 su 5 stelle Just so awful 13 agosto 2016
Di T. Childress - Pubblicato su Amazon.com

Several times as I tried to trudge through this story I had to remind myself that these characters are supposed to be adults. Nearly 30 actually. I still wonder if the author is an adult.
It seems like her idea of adulthood and the mentality and dialogue that
go with that are borrowed from a bad teen made for tv movie.
Things that were beyond annoying:
- Perfect Suzy is of course a bombshell. All the guys want her. And yet she's never managed to have even a semi satisfactory sexual experience?
- Apparently they live in Rapeville as Suzy is mauled and attacked by multiple men. But only when City was handy for rescue of course.
- The dialogue is painful. I have a test when I think it's odd or awkward. I say it aloud. Just try that with any line in this and you'll feel completely ridiculous. Seriously, two grown women who constantly call each other 'whore?' What do you think this is, Mean Girls?
- All of the relationships are completely juvenile. The emotional development of the characters seem to have ceased in high school.
- I could forgive some of that if the sexual content was good enough. I prefer smut with a good story but I can deal with just good smut. Unfortunately the author hasn't mastered the art of show instead of tell. Suzy was quick to talk about how amazing City was in the sack. But the descriptions were of pretty standard stuff. Just with a guy who thinks phrases such as 'balls deep' in regular conversation is sexy.
- Seriously, do these two ever have a conversation that doesn't include sex? And if that was deliberate, then unfortunately the result was decidedly unsexy and at times nearly painful.

I did not, or rather could not, finish this. I gave it a good go, getting to about the 80% mark but then the eye rolling became almost constant so I had to abandon the effort.

There was so much hype everywhere in the blogger world about this book so I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on it. I was so excited to receive a copy for review! Let me just tell you - Chelle Bliss DID NOT disappoint! I was so throttled with City! Not to mention, look at that gorgeous cover. This is one of those books you one-click because of the hotness, but keep reading because of how genuinely great the book is!

Suzy was such a character - I absolutely loved her innocence and how completely opposite of City that she was. The fact that she was self-proclaimed OCD with her lists always left me cracking up because that is so me! Whenever they joked about her innocence or her checklist, I saw so much of myself in her, which just made me appreciate the book even more. She wasn't just a character in a book; she was a friend who I could completely relate to. I also loved seeing her transformation throughout the book. It was a slow process that I don't think she even fully realized it was happening. It gave such a genuine feel to this character.

And oh, City, City, City! He was so masculine and alpha and dominating. He could push Suzy's buttons, but he always knew her limits. This intuitiveness is just every girl's dream. He was instantly protective of Suzy and it only grew. This is one of my favorite qualities in a male character so I instantly fell in love and swooned hardcore. I also appreciated the mystery that surrounded him. Chelle writes his character in a way that you always know there is something more to him, but never feeling like you're missing out. It's definitely a gift she has to walk that line successfully.

Furthermore, these characters together just worked for me. They exhibited real insecurities and emotions. The fact that they were complete and total opposites just had me rooting even harder for them as a couple, especially when they couldn't see it themselves. The secondary characters in the book had me desiring more of their stories as well. As soon as I finished the book, I had to figure out which character we'd get more of. The dynamic between the members of the Gallo family, as well as between Suzy with Sophia and Kayden just left me wondering what the back story for each and every one of them is (hint, hint Chelle!).

The plot was also pretty intriguing. It wasn't a lot of rollercoaster drama or angst, but it was the perfect amount to keep you on your toes but not think it's overly dramatic. Furthermore, the line of events just seemed so realistic. There was never an occurrence where I had to roll my eyes and think "enough already!", which I absolutely appreciated! It was fear and feelings I that I expected to see in these characters given their personalities. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to fellow readers! It's holy hot and steamy with the perfect amount of dramatics; a quick read you're bound to love!

WOW!!! I can not help but fall in love with the Gallo brothers. They are the perfect bad boy. They just have the sex appeal rolling off of them. You have anything from tattoo artist, musician, fighter, and undercover cop. I little bit of everything in the series. Freaking yummy. I done the whispersync and I just loved the narrators.

I so loved this book. It was about Joseph (City) Gallo. He is super sexy and I loved that fact that he was a bike man. He had this roughness that I just loved. He was a tattoo artist at the an ink shop that him and his brothers owned.

I can not imagine what it was like for Suzy to be stranded on the side of the road at night with a dead phone and wearing a pair if painful high heels. Yeah, that had to be pretty scary and not here is this hot sexy biker stopping to help her.

I can not blame the mixing feelings that Suzy was feeling when it came to Joseph aka Joey. He looked dangerous. Here she was a school teacher and a good girl. I had to almost laugh about her list.

Loved Kayden and Sophia. These were the two most important people in Suzy’s life and I loved how they looked out for her. Kayden is like a brother to Suzy and City will have to do what he can to impress them.

There is danger around the corner and my heart broke at what City and Suzy had to go through. Their love will be tested but I love how when a love is meant to be that things we got through will just make it stronger and that is what it is like for City and Suzy.

I am so loving this series and can not wait to read the other books in this set.

I'm not sure why I've waited so long to meet the Gallos, but I'm kicking myself for it. I just adore Ma Gallo. She's a loving mother with a firm hand. All her grown children revert back to kids when she's around and it's absolutely adorable.

Joseph Gallo aka City has enjoyed bachelor life. Riding his bike and inking his customers and Inked he's content with life. Having loved and lost, he's not looking to go down that road again but when he meets prim and proper school teacher, Suzy McCarthy, everything changes.

These two share an instant and undeniable attraction from the moment they meet. Since Suzy is nothing like the women he's dated in the past, he's quite taken with her no cussing and ladylike manner. She's a lady it only makes her more desirable in his eyes. He can tell that deep down there is a dirty girl aching to be set free but he has to work hard to get the chance to chisel his way in and work his magic.

Suzy is somewhat a control freak. She has a path and a literal checklist for the man she plans to spend her life with...City doesn't meet any of those requirements so she's not too keen to continue things with him. Thank good for his tenacity because he proves that not everything is black and white and a man in a suit can be just as much of a jerk as a man on a bike can be just as much a gentlemen.

I loved that City never gave up on her and eventually got to see that Suzy wasn't as prim and proper and she was on the outside. Things got quite hot and heavy with them. He pushed her passed her comfort zone and they both got to reap those rewards.

I am shaking my head at the warning about language and sexual content. A reader would have to be some kind of idiot not to expect that this would have adult content, given the cover. Because of the warning, I was expecting something dark and intense. What I got was an uptight teacher who doesn't dance or swear who has read a few books with some sexual scenarios. At no point has she put them into practice, and she leads a very narrow life. "I like to read. I go out with my friends sometimes. Um, I like to hang out at the pool. I like to play games. I do plenty of fun things." Besides talking like a second grade reader, methinks the lady doth protest too much. This is a woman who gets drunk after two drinks. "Guess the first one never left my system." Ha!

Our hero, although he has tattoos and a motorcycle, could hardly be called a bad boy given that he is at his mother's every Sunday afternoon for the weekly family dinner.

"I didn't offend you with being possessive and calling you my girl?" Not exactly bad boy speak.
"Oh no. I've never had anyone say that about me, ever." LMAO

There is a very young adult feel to the story, which is odd given the near 30 age of the leading characters. "I'll never give up on my fairytale," says our Disney princess. Gak!

"I'm going to make you swear if it's the last thing I do." Isn't it nice to have relationship goals?

"I smiled at him, and the name "sugar" made me feel all GOOEY inside. No one had been so FORWARD with me." What the heck? Was she raised in a convent? News flash, Cinderella. Sometimes guys call women "sugar" and "baby" because they can't remember their names! In this book, the author uses "sugar" 143 times. Saccharine overkill...

The irony in the middle of all this gooey forwardness is that she tells the hero that she is NOT a good girl. "My walls are actually white except for one blue wall in my bedroom. I'm not the typical bubblegum-pink girl." A blue wall? She must be a hussy! Who exactly is a bubblegum-pink girl once they are older than seven?

The dialogue is unbelievably stilted and juvenile.

"The music wasn't the right tempo for a slow dance or to shake my booty, as Sophia used to call it." Who talks like this?
""Bleh." She scrunched her noise, opened her mouth, and stuck her finger inside, pretending to gag." Late 20's? Why the explanation for what bleh means?
"I'll be waiting with bells on."
"Let me handle the meat." "That's what she said." "If you're a good girl, I'll let you handle my meat later." This conversation made ME want to stick my finger down my throat.

Then we have the whole insta-love angle. "I'd only known him a week, but he INVADED my life." Because she likes him too much she wants to dump him immediately. "I don't know if I could deal with the HEARTBREAK when you walk out of my life." Honestly, it is hard not to laugh when you read this out loud. There are NUMEROUS references to how the two of them 'don't fit on paper'. The problem she has decided this before she even knows him. Ironically, when she learns about his financial situation, suddenly he fits her criteria. Hmmmm......

Just to give some semblance of a plot, the author tosses in a couple of bad guys so that our intrepid hero gets to punch them. Of course, afterward, he is mad at her and says, "Shut your mouth, Suzy." At which point he takes her home and she "clings to him like a lifeline."

Two stars because it was free. Drool over the cover and skip the book. Really people, there are many good romance novels to read -- Kristen Ashley, Penny Reid, Jeanienne Frost, Lisa Marie Rice, Tessa Bailey, Kaylea Cross, Ruthie Knox, . If you want real bad boy books with great sex try Joanna Wylde or Rebecca Zanetti.
