2.0 su 5 stelle Bad materials. They don't last a year 27 settembre 2014

Zippers are low quality and broke within 8 months. This happened to all of them. This bag is inadequate for someone that wants durability. Even the inside stitching that holds the foam broke as well as the nets used for holding water bottles.

Two stars because I like the design, very simple and useful

Given as a gift to my boyfriend and he loves it! He said it is so light even with his 17" laptop, computer accessories and his personal/school/work items with ample room for more. The backpack is well designed and made and my boyfriend has recieved many compliments for it. If I hadn't gotten another bag already, I would have bought myself one. A Perfect fit for both a student and/or professional.

4.0 su 5 stelle Lightweight yet Seriously Padded 20 luglio 2015
Di Tinfoot - Pubblicato su
Personally, I strongly prefer the Tucano Livello backpack for notebook 15.6" and Ultrabook 15" although in fairness, this larger one is designed to accommodate 17" MacBook Pro. It has some SERIOUS padding on the back with two shoulder pads and a small-of-the-back pad. The shoulder straps even have ergonomic swoops that I have not seen before even after a lifetime of backpack use (during Navy deployments, I lived out of backpacks far more than my seabag).

It is fairly lightweight material, and even though the elastic itself has good tensile strength and the inner stitching is all straight and clean, I am just not overly convinced the overall build would handle particularly rough handling, slinging, and harsh traveling conditions. Of course, I am relying on my long experience from going to port deployment platform, and uncountable airline travel hours, so my estimation may be going beyond the usual norm, yet it is something to note. I have an old backpack, 20 years old, bought in Thailand that still holds up like a champ even now, and has remained my level of long term durability in the face of adversity (lol). The Tucano Lato does not measure up to that bar. However, for far more casual and careful conditions, this should last.

- Complimentary product provided for evaluation, yet my thinking here reflects all my personal purchasing decision processes, and hopefully may help clarify if this best meets your own needs and expectations.

5.0 su 5 stelle Stylish and functional 15 luglio 2015
Di Mike W. - Pubblicato su
First, I need to let you know that I received this backpack free for the purpose of review. I'm hoping that my impressions and observations will prove useful to you in your decision making. If you have questions about the pack, feel free to post them in the comments section, and I'll do my best to answer based on my own experience with the product.

What you're getting with this order:
(1) Lato Backpack from Tucano

What is this thing and what are its advertised features?:
This backpack is touted as being large enough to accommodate a laptop up to 17" as well as having a dedicated tablet pocket composed of materials that will protect the screen. Besides the electronics, the pack is large enough (a depth of 7")to add folders, a book or two and other smaller items. The bag was designed in Milano, Italy and made in China.

Does it work?:
I like this as a laptop pack both for its looks and for its function. I'll break it down more specifically:

Appearance/Design: I ordered mine in red and am really pleased with the style afforded by this pack. I like the red with the contrasting black highlights and I like the way they've managed to make this a fairly simple but sleek looking design. The front panel features a deep panel with a somewhat hidden zipper (except for the pull). Next is a large, thin panel that contains the tablet pocket with soft, lightly padded material that protects both the tablet and its screen during transport. The opposite side of this panel has slots sewn in for credit cards, pens/pencils and other small items such as a phone. The main panel is next and is the pack's largest. It has a space for a laptop up to 17" and offers padding on both sides of the laptop. The opposite side features a large mesh pocket with Velcro closure.

The shoulder straps are padded as is the area over the shoulder blades and the lower back. This padding creates a channel through which air can flow reducing sweating. the padding on the straps and rear of the pack is done in black and contrasts nicely with the red. Zippers all have the two tone color scheme with black, then red nylon pulls with black silicone tips. As far as build goes, the stitching looks good, everything is sewn correctly and is symmetrical.

Function: the bag easily fits my 14" laptop and gives it a decent padding during transport. The tablet pocket is a nice addition and my 10" tablet fits easily. My tablet has a cover, so the soft materials of the pocket don't matter much, but to anyone who uses their tablet with the screen exposes this should give some peace of mind. The straps are easily adjustable and just about anyone should be able to get a fairly comfortable fit. One nice extra is an opening for headphones on the bag's front face. With both a laptop and a tablet on board, the pack is best used for folders etc.... But if books are a must, you can easily fit 1-2 depending on their size. Any more than that and you'd be stressing the pack pretty seriously.

Anything else of note?:
Yes. One area where this kind of review lacks is in discussing and reporting on durability. I've only had the pack for a week and so can offer nothing but speculation regarding the pack's endurance. However, Tucano offers a 2 year warranty on the pack, so that should go far in easing one's mind about their confidence in the bag and it certainly decreases your risk. In addition, as of the posting of this review, the pack is eligible for free shipping to members of Amazon Prime; that's always a plus in my book.

Any negatives?:
Nothing yet. Construction is good, and the pack seems to be made from durable materials but I simply haven't owned it long enough to speak with any certainty about durability. I'm sending this off to college with my son, and I'll report back on should there be any failure over the next year.

Bottom line: This is a well designed laptop backpack that offers style for you, and protection for your electronics. I like it, and am happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a quality laptop bag. It appears ready to handle the rigors of school, work and commuting and manages to look good doing it. Enjoy!
