5.0 su 5 stelle Gripping continuation I couldnt put down!! 17 febbraio 2017

Venom & Ecstasy far exceeded my expectations. I was completely consumed by this book and fell for Draco Molina more than I ever thought possible. Shanora Williams knocks it clear out of the park with this continuation of the Venom trilogy so hold on tight.

Picking up right where we left off in Passion & Venom, Gia and Draco go head to head with each trying to gain the ultimate control over the other. A true battle of wills, I love how Gia in particular never wavers in her quest to tame the mighty El Jefe. She's still sure she wants out of her current situation but as time goes on and we get a tiny glimpse of a softer side of Draco, Gia begins to realize that maybe her true destiny really is with this complicated man.

Once again there are tense yet very erotic moments between the two and the love/hate relationship they have with each other is nothing less than explosive each and every time they are together. Violence is practically second nature in this story and even Gia starts to recognize that. As secrets and connections are finally revealed it's a wonder any of them can ultimately survive.

We are left once again with a wild cliffhanger but somehow I don't mind that we have to wait for the final book in this series. There is a ton to digest and I have a feeling I'll need a reread just to get myself ready for the eventual conclusion. I expect to have that perpetual knot in my stomach as we near the end of Gia and Draco's journey just like I have with the first two books. And let me tell you, it's worth every gasp, every omg moment. A ride like no other, I can't imagine it being over.

5 enticing and explosive stars!

5.0 su 5 stelle I have found a third fave anti-hero 17 febbraio 2017

*Warning: this book is not a standalone. Don't read it without having read Passion & Venom first.*

I'll try not to spoil it because it was too awesome and people should experience it all by themselves.

I'm writing this review assuming you read book one. You know what happened in it; how it ended. You thought P&V was a wild ride, right? So wrong.

Things literally go boom in this one. But before I get ahead of myself, let me tell you, things are more intense. There will be times you'll want to shake some sense into Gia, there will be times you will be shaking your head at Draco's deeds. For a while, it's El Jefe vs. La Patrona and, as Gia herself wonders, who will win?

I loved that Gia still had her fighting spirit, even though she really messed up in this one. Granted, Draco isn't a good man, he's not easy to tolerate or trust at all. I was torn between understanding her - or trying to - and wanting to smack her upside the head for doing this or that.

As for El Jefe, we see a different side of him - we already caught glimpses of it in P&V - and my heart ached for him, at a certain scene.

I was ready to throw my kindle toward the end and then we were left with another cliffhanger - I knew this, I did, but I'm a sucker for Ms. Williams' writing - and, while certain questions got answered, I can't help but want to see the conclusion.

So, you have it darker, more twisted than book one, but with scenes that will tug at your heart and ones where you'll want to scream at the characters and their choices.

I loved this book, in spite of some things Draco did and am giving it 5 stars. I can't help it, Draco has made my short anti-hero-that-I-love list.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

This book was unbelievable!

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to put into words how I really feel about this book.

Passion and Venom (book 1) was the first book by Shanora Williams that I'd read and I was immediately in love with everything about it. I instantly knew without a doubt that I had just added another author to my "Buy Without Question" list and have been anxiously and impatiently waiting for Venom and Ecstasy to come out ever since.

Before actually starting Venom and Ecstasy, I took a minute to read the "Note From The Author". I took particular notice of the statement "Yep, you get to see a gentler side of El Jefe!" I don't know about you, but when I read a dark romance like this one, I like my alpha to stay hard and dark. Unflinching and unwavering in their convictions. Instantly I felt a slight pang of disappointment at the idea that El Jefe could possibly turn soft; even just a little. Not that that would be enough to deter me from reading the book though. As I stated earlier, I loved the first book and frankly nothing short of Shanora saying El Jefe would spend the entire book running around in a pink tutu would have stopped me from reading this book.

If this is a concern you have as well, let me assure you that while yes, you do in fact see a gentler side of him, he remains a true and total bad@ss throughout the book. You also see another side of Gia which went beyond what I had expected from the first book and is totally awesome.

Just as I did with the first book, I loved everything about Venom and Ecstasy. It's dark, fierce and overflowing with angst and passion. The third book can't get here fast enough!

This second installment into the trilogy had in interesting mix of violence and discovery.

As the warning suggests, there are some pretty brutal scenes in this book, the biggest coming from vengeance on Bain and Francesca.  There were times where I wanted the toughness from Gia that she promised at the end of book one, and while it only through on occasion, she certainly stepped up when it came to Bain.  And boy did that turn on Draco, lol.

“I don’t take threats from anyone.  I am the threat.”

There is a lot of mystery as to what Draco does when he leaves the house to deal with "business", but as he has proven time and time again, he is all too willing to torture one for answers.  And that penchant for violence came at an early age, as we learn through his talks with Gia.  Which lead me to the second point . . .

Gia continues to try to understand Draco more, and it takes some time to draw the information out of him.  But eventually, we gain understanding on what has made Draco the man he is today.  How he was raised.  How he turned to violence.  And how he came to know about Toni's bad deeds.

By gaining this information, Gia grows closer to Draco and is finally able to let go of Toni.

It also becomes clear to everyone, that Gia is drawn to men like Draco.

While there seems to be an ongoing conflict between Gia and Draco, as they struggle with some of the terms of their new relationship, the overall pace felt slower.  That is until the last 10%.  That's when I knew another cliffy was coming.  There are a number of twists, some that I saw coming but had forgotten about, and some that blindsided me.

Although there are a lot of questions that need to be answered, the biggest will be how can Gia get Draco to forgive her.  Because man oh man did she mess up!!

So now we wait for book three . . . . hurry up Shanora!!

I need a minute to get myself together! Seriously, let me pick my chin up off the floor.
Shanora Williams does NOT disappoint, once again! (I need a stiff drink *fans face* and some anti-anxiety medication)
I do not want to spoil this for those who have not read this so I'll keep this short and sweet. This is not a standalone, you must read Passion & Venom before you fall into Venom & Ecstasy. Trust me, it's well worth the time and spare change you'll find under the couch cushions! Both books are so dang good that you'll be able to re-read them over and over again.
For those of you that have read V&P, if y'all thought that was intense, buckle up because V&E is one heck of a ride! My emotions were all over the place. See, Williams has perfected her skill of writing to suck her readers in from the first page. Once you've finished the book, you're sitting in a corner rocking with your knees brought up to your chest trying to figure out if you just imagined yourself being involved in what you read or did it really did happen.
*sips mixed drink, swallows anti-anxiety pill, fans face again*
I'm so in love with this series & Draco! I will tell you all this..... Venom & Ecstasy is not the end for Draco and I CAN NOT WAIT to see what happens next! I have a feeling that book 3 will show a new side to Gianna and my beautiful Draco. Those two can not be broken! Draco will be a whole new shade of dark and his niñita will get a good lesson on just how to be his Reina!
