5.0 su 5 stelle I'll be his ward! 31 marzo 2013
Di Megan Riverina Romantics - Pubblicato su
Formato: Formato Kindle Acquisto verificato
Rating: 4.5
Hotness Rating: 3 out of 5

The Low Down:
There's only three characters in this erotic shortie. There's Angelina, who's POV is how the story is written. There is Delilah or Lilah as her brother calls her. Delilah is Angelina's boss. The third person in this story is Morgan Ward, Delilah's brother.

At the emphatic urging of his mother and sister, Morgan ward has decided to throw himself a birthday party. It was to be THE PARTY of parties and everyone who was anyone was going to be there. Angelina, who's semi-stalkerish and gossipy nature delighted me, had been following all the news reports on the shindig. She never expected that she'd be a guest though.

The Characters:
As I stated earlier I found Angelina a thoroughly delightful character. She's a bit of a gossip but she seems amiable enough. She's extremely happy with her position as Delilah's assistant but to tell you the truth she's a little to devoted to her boss IMO.

Delilah on the other hand is a cold-hearted and calculating bee-itch. Her behavior and attitude was clearly snobbish but her deviousness was hidden till the end. I really liked the contrast between Delilah and Angelina.

I found Morgan kinda infuriating. His behavior kept changing. He was hot and cold but when he was hot he was HOT!!!

The Writing:
The writing in this was smooth and easy to follow despite the fact that the story is written in the first person. It also seemed as if Angelina was talking to herself but I found that endearing LOL.

The Plot:
Though the story was short the plot, with all it's subtleties, was awesome. There were a few twists that were pretty cool and took me by surprise. I'm anxious to see what happens next as the story ended with a cliffhanger.

Cover Comments:
Don't let the cover deceive you. The plainness of it dos not reflect what lies behind it. I love how the ruby cuff link stands out.

Ward of the Vampire isn't quite like Kallysten's other vampire stories. The change, while minute, was refreshing and I definitely want to read more of this story. I wonder what Kally has in store for these guys!
4.0 su 5 stelle A good novella! Could be longer. 3 aprile 2013

I received an ARC copy to give an honest review. BUT I DID PICK MYSELF UP A COPY OF THIS ON FREE DAY!

Overall it was a wonderful read! Though it was too short for me. But I had questions such as did Morgan have the ability to do something with time? It seemed as though he did but you were never told that in words. What about this replacement that Morgan speaks about? Also the ending was not what I was expecting. What happened or should I say what will happen? It is a real cliff hanger. I hope this is a series as I can see it being one. The characters were great especially Morgan. Let me just say he seemed to be some yummy on so many levels even though he is rude and arrogant at times. I did wonder myself if Angelina was having herself a fantasy or not!

Angelina (Lina) is a personal assistant to Delilah who has an agenda in mind between Morgan and Angelina. Though Angelina does not know this until later, she finds out something is not right with the family and could it be too late for her.

Now there is some romance in the book so this is for a older and mature audience.

5.0 su 5 stelle Excellent Way To Introduce a Series - 5 Stars 4 aprile 2013

There are enough accolades on this novella to fill pages and I won't list many more for the story, it was exceptional for what it was AND it was an awesome marketing tool since it allows people the ability for little money (99 cents or less) can get a sense of the story before they get the novel (which I will). Perhaps if more authors did this type of thing we might get better books LOL. Since I read hundreds a year I hate it when I sludge through a book to get to the "good parts" and the good part is when it says THE END, this one grabs you shortly after you start and leaves you wanting more without the frustration of 2-3 page teasers. Good effort and looks to be the start of an amazing series.

3.0 su 5 stelle Ward of the vampire, 3.5 stars, short glimpse of a novel or series? 2 maggio 2013
Di Kindle Customer - Pubblicato su

I'm one of the few ones to rate this lower as 3.5 stars. This is my first book by this author. Told in first person, it is a fairly short story (50 pages) of a posh birthday party for the brother of the boss of our main character, Lina, and the events leading up to & the end of the party. It is basically setting up series or book to follow. Obviously the boss & said brother are vampires and there is a history there. I won't go into what is already described. The premise was good but there was lack of description of what the lead female, Lina, looked like. There was vague references to her as being curvy but nothing about her height, color of her skin, hair or eyes. I had a hard time capturing the essence of who Lina was except by what she told us in her inner dialogue which didn't help me "get" her at all. These small details help in a short story so the imagination can take it from there. It took away the immersion into the story for me. The interior of the homes were described better than she was! As for the male lead, I didn't get a real sense of who he was because of what happened but I was intrigued just the same. If I had those details, I would have enjoyed this more but it felt kind of lacking (perhaps this would be updated by the time it's read by others).
The story itself was fine but left with the story unfinished. It isn't a cliff hanger - rather more like the end of a chapter or the first act of a play. It did catch my attention though and I'm likely to check out the next one if it's not overly expensive like some shorts or series can be. This one was free so I do not want to be overly critical because of that and it is not finished. I can't fairly rate something without the whole story. There was one "love" scene, not overly done, and there is a slight mystery hinted at. Kallysten is a good writer but in this story somethings need to be added to add depth & bonding with the heroine. That alone would raise my rating higher to a 4 star. I'd recommend if you don't mind waiting for the next ones. I don't like to wait & would rather have the entire story at one time. I did like it though.

Be careful what you wish for, it might just happen but not exactly how you would like it too. Being at the party of the year is one thing but not being able to leave is another. Delightful read that keeps you right there on the edge wanting more. Part one of five.
